I am not starting these threads after the last time, when LA lost by 39.
Monk should be starting tonight, according to Frank Vogel, so I expect the same lineup as in the last game, and as indicated above: Davis, Johnson, Bradley, Monk, Westbrook.

This is actually Game 52. By the way, Mason Jones was the G-League player of the month for January. It would be nice to see him and Doubouya make an occasional appearance in an NBA game. The latter was full of energy and fun to watch.

That was a dirty play by Nurkic, catching Anthony Davis in the air by the knee, and probably knowing his knee problems.
Monk is starting out cold tonight, but looks like he will get going.

The Lakers are having almost too much time to shoot their threes. Monk is now 0-4, but Carmelo hit both of his.

Lakers shooting 53% from the field to the Blazers 35% and yet they're only up one lol.
Inability to sustain another double-digit lead because they allowed the Blazers to score 37 points and hit all 8 of their threes in the second quarter. Also allowed them to score 14 points off their 9 TO's. Not a damn thing has changed.

Monk and Westbrook playing fake-hustle defense out there... They're not fooling anyone...

Points off turnovers, 19-0 Blazers. Pathetic.

LOL came in the end. Only to see Westbrook leave his man wide open on both occasians, he falls to far back to the basket hoping to get a rebound

Don't care about the results of "ONE GAME" Davis shows heart and plays. He'll either be injured OR stop trying very soon, nothing to get excited about

An unsatisfying win. But at least they are now a half game behind the Clippers.

Where would we be this season without Melo? On a better constructed and successful team, he might have been a 6th man of the year candidate.

We've had some ugly wins this season but this one might rank at the very top. That being said, AD is **** back baby. 29.3 PPG, 10.7 RPG, and 2.7 BPG while shooting 58% from the field the last three games. Just need to bubble wrap him till playoff time.

Westbrook is so easy to scheme against if we even make the playoffs. Rob needs to make the Knicks deal or die tryin

Re: Game 50 : Portland Trail Blazers (21-30) @ Los Angeles Lakers (24-27) - 10:30 PM
What surprised me about this game in retrospect is, that we had a healthy and active AD paired with a healthy Westbrook... So I assumed we'd see better synergy there... But IMO we looked a lot better when Westbrook was off the floor and the offense was being run through AD and THT... I don't know if it's because THT is better defensively, or if the fact he's more inclined to find the right pass than to call his own number, but AD didn't get the ball as much as I thought he would from Westbrook, and he did from THT, or from the other players when the offense ran through him or THT...
THT gets a lot of grief when he misses a shot or whatever, but he actually had a pretty great game last night... Westbrook had the numbers but even when AD is playing like his old self, Westbrook just isn't the greatest fit... It just feels forced.
I love Monk's swagger but he was useless on D last night... And I think he's getting a bit too much leash on offense... He's starting to go off script and make some dumb plays...
Melo gets numbers, but he's still scary in crunch time... I love when the ball finds him open in quarters 1-3, but I cringe a bit in the 4th...
We could have used some of those wide open 3s from Bradley... And I think his D is a bit over-rated at times, but he was solid.
I think teams are starting to take Reaves seriously, and he's not really as effective anymore...
I thought our trap/double-teams with AD on their bigs were highly effective... we need to look at doing more of that...
All in all, Westbrook just still seems like an extra thumb on this team... IDK if he and AD need to lock themselves in the film room and work on a plan for how to get on the same page offensively, or something else, but hopefully the next few games without LeBron will shake something loose...

I don't know about THT being more inclined to find the right pass. There are so many times where his tunnel vision reminds me of Clarkson...idk maybe I'm just being a hater.
I do agree with you on the lack of synergy between Westbrook and AD, you would think those two would make sweet music but that hasn't come to fruition. But then again I'm not surprised, this team doesn't have an offensive identity and just relies on our stars to improvise and be great.
