He originally was on a hardship covid contract but this one and the one that preceded it were the standard 10 day type. when it ends, they'll probably sign him to a guaranteed contract with some sort of option for next year.

Let's hope so. It would make a lot of fans happy.

"I do not believe it is a given that the Pacers sign him after this point. It remains to be seen, I think it is more likely than not, but I would not assume that to be the case. And then from there, we can see about next season." - Scott Agness on Setting the Pace podcast.

I really can see it going either scenario of sign or not sign. His performance has been up and down so far. He’s got passing talent and vision better than most of our guards.

With a few more strong performances I think it’s a done deal for the rest of this season. Of course the trade deadline activity if any could determine what the Pacers decide. Right now I don’t feel like they trade anyone.

Really though it took more than one player in health and safety to be able to sign a Covid hardship.

isn't the rule that a player can't be traded for 90 days after signing a new deal unless it is a simultaneous sign and trade???

No.

Lance, Brogdon, Sykes, and Taylor all cannot be traded at the deadline for varying reasons.

This is worded poorly. There is no tax hit since we’re not over the tax line. There is a cap hit, though.

He deserves it. I was never a fan of letting him go after his second stint here.

You mean when he turned down more money on a longer contract from Indy to go sign with the Lakers for the vet minimum? Yeah, we turned down his team option to maximize cap space, which is what put him into free agency, but we did it in coordination with him and his agent, and held an offer for him, but he chose the Lakers for less.
