Re: Is Tyrese Maxey already a better player than Ben Simmons?
Maxey is a good player. Simmons is a franchise level player. Add Simmons to ANY low level franchise and they immediately become a playoff team. The magic are for example are 12-41 or the Pistons are 12-38. Add Simmons to either roster and they are a potential 5 or 6 seed in the Eastern conference next season. Hypothetically Detroit trades Grant, Hayes, lottery pick and fillers for Simmons. Or Orlando trades Anthony, Suggs, Lotto Pick and filler for Simmons.
Pistons
Simmons
Cunningham
Bey
Olynyk
Stewart or Free Agent pick up. (Maybe Garza plays for his shooting)

Harris or Free agent 3&D

Simmons, for all his flaws, is an elite defensive player, strong playmaker and great athlete.
Anyone pushing this narrative has an agenda.
Assist to turnover ratio.
Thats really good, especially for a young guy.

Re: Is Tyrese Maxey already a better player than Ben Simmons?
No. He's not close to being as good as Ben Simmons. He is making the most of the opportunity that he's been given, being the 3rd option (out of necessity). He should be praised for that, but it should be kept in perspective.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

He's not but i'd rather have Maxey and his contract than have Simmons with his contract and baggage.

Re: Is Tyrese Maxey already a better player than Ben Simmons?
Maxey is more of a short shooting guard. That’s why he was drafted 20th overall. If Maxey were 6 foot 6 with his speed Maxey would be much more effective player. He can beat guys off the dribble in the half court. But a lot of his shots can get blocked.
He simply doesn’t have the length to he elite combo guard. He can be a very good guard in the league. Maybe one day a fringe all star.
But he has height and length limitation. Along with an iffy 3 point shot.
His defense is average (not bad but average) but he’s second year player so could improve on that.

Stop. Just stop.
While I am a Sixers fan who voted no in this poll, Maxey's speed with the ball is elite. That was a truly ridiculous statement.
I could go into more detail (such as his dramatic improvement in 3-point shooting, his better than 3-to-1 assist/TO ratio or his elite numbers finishing at the rim), but your ridiculous post does not deserve more.

The crazy thing is that the sixers would have a roster that could beat the Bucks if Simmons had bought in.. Maxey handling point fulltime and Embiid/Ben alternating in the post and perimeter would be way too much for most teams to deal with

Ben is overrated, but he's still better than Maxey.
Now, is Maxey a better fit than Ben on the Sixers roster (and most NBA rosters)? You could make that case.

They say the best ability is availability, and he has that over that clown Simmons.

Again, Maxey is a bottom tier starter being compared to an all nba, dmvp runner up. There is no comparison: even you voted that way.
You like Maxey as a prospect. Good for you.

You just can't play basketball with a non-shooting PG.
If a team trades for Simmons they better start playing him at PF/C in a set offense, otherwise its a waste...

They certainly didn’t look better with the backup PG.
When Simmons was on the floor, he was a net positive in every game except game 6 against Atlanta which they won anyway.
Meanwhile backups were
George Hill - Negative impact on 5 of 12 games including a -15 in game 7 against Hawks
Tyrese Maxey - Negative impact in 7 of 12 games
Shake Milton - Negative on impact in 9 of 12 games
So yeh, the issue wasn’t Simmons. When he was on the floor, even if he didn’t impact the game scoring the ball, he clearly impacted the game defensively and had a positive rating with him playing. He also played way more minutes than these guys. The bench was clearly their issue.

This is an embarrassing thread.

Nice attempt to move the goalposts. You are good at that - aren't you?
You said Maxey does not have an elite skill. I said he does.
Speed
Finishing at the rim
AST/TO ratio
Thanks for playing.

I acknowledged the a/t ratio, which I did not know.
Simmons is pretty fast and still a far better player than Maxey.
Which you yourself voted. Thanks for playing.

Aren't those goalposts heavy?
Now we are comparing Maxey to Simmons, are we? You are so GOOD at this!
You said that Maxey does not have any elite NBA skills. I said that Maxey's speed is elite.
You said Simmons is faster, which 1) may or may not be true and 2) HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHETHER MAXEY'S SPEED IS ELITE.
Now, if you move these goalposts one more time, as per the rules of the game, you are disqualified.
Thanks again for playing!
