definitely getting drafted dead last for good reason

He scores more than Lamelo on better efficiency, and he actually plays defense. You should be crying about Tatum instead of FVV.

I could see Bridges, Lamelo, Herro and Edwards playing as injury replacements
Whos not gonna play? Gobert, Draymond, Lebron, KD, Garland and Butler probably

I think the likes of FVV, Middleton, Ball have similar cases - just not enough spaces. Allen, imo, definitely should be an All-Star.

When are people going to acknowledge that he’s actually a good player?

He is an amazing player that all 30 teams would love to have (and a Celtic killer, which hurts lol). But he is a complimentary piece, he really doesnt scream all star at all

So replacing Garland with Ball and Allen with Middleton probably would have made the most sense then.

Garland deserves it far more than VanVleet does.

I cant believe im stepping in to defend a raptor, but the Garland choice is farfetched at best. Its appears to be political choice because the game is being played in Cleveland. Allen or Mobley would have been better choices if they wanted a Cav

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Garland is the engine of the Cavs. He's been better than FVV this year and he's clearly more valuable to this team's success this year than Mobley and Allen. Coming from someone who's watched every single game this year. Don't just believe me though. The numbers back this up as well.

In 44 games with Garland, the Cavs are operating at roughly a +6.14 SRS this season. In 8 games without Darius Garland, the Cavs are operating at around a -6.29 SRS. They go from performing at the level of the 3rd best team in the league with him (only behind Golden State and Phoenix) to performing at the level of the 27th best team in the league without him.

With Garland on the court this season, the Cavs have a Net Rating of +9.1, and without him, the Cavs are -3.6. An on-off of +12.7. And keep in mind, for the majority of the season, the Cavs have had super backup Ricky Rubio taking his place when he's off the floor.

In RAPM, Garland ranks 5th in the league at +3.51, only coming behind Rudy Gobert, Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry, and George Hill. Hill is out of place obviously, but his on-off numbers are nuts and he's a bench guy only playing 25 mpg, so he's primarily just killing bench units and you have to account for that. The rest are arguably the most valuable players this season though, with another guy in Embiid coming in at 9th in RAPM. Giannis is 17th for the record.

Garland might not have the most crazy box score numbers out there, but his impact is substantial. The team is absolutely terrible without him yet performs at contender level with him. His playmaking, off the dribble shooting, off ball movement, infectious energy, communication on defense, and leadership really make this team what it is. If Garland was excluded from the ASG, the whole thing would be a total sham because you can argue only a few guys in the East have been more impactful for their teams than Darius Garland.

I imagine Hornets fans have the biggest gripe right now. I thought Lamelo would make it, or even Bridges. I also thought Jarrett Allen was close to a lock. But all the guys who made it are deserving so I don't know who you take off. Lots of talent in the league.

Its easy. Jayson Tatum if off the team & Middleton should of never made it. Allen should of made it over Garland.

I obviously don't agree with you but everyone has their own opinion. Tatum is a perennial All star and y'all will just have to accept it haha. Dude is really good at basketball.

People hating on Tatum because of how much he shoots yet he’s still shooting better than Vanvleet, Harden, and Lamelo. Also the east is bunched up so there isn’t some huge gap record wise. The Celtics are really offensively challenged team that rely heavily on Tatum to bail them out. He’s not playing with Giannis or KD like some of the other all stars.

Yeah people shouldn’t try to dump Fred for Ball. VanVleet is having a superior year to Ball

Also… they expanded game rosters to 13.

Why not have 13 all stars now?

Lifetime achievement from the 4 seed and the 9 seed really hurt his chances. Followed by a starter from the 10 seed and an undeserving selection from the 8 seed exasperated it.

I personally hope Silver picks Allen for KD's replacement but I could see it being Ball.

No, The Cavs go as Garland goes. The Cavs would be out of the playoffs if it werent for Garland.

The few Tatum shouldn’t have made it takes are funny, and incredibly ill informed. 26/9/4, elite advanced stats, team falls off a cliff without him. Because he shot poorly for the first month? Since December 1st he’s averaged 28/9/4.5 on a 59% TS. And defensively?

Ball would be so much fun in an all star game. He’s only a few inches off of KD, make it happen. It would be ridiculous if the Hornets didn’t get an all star and the other current 15 playoff teams did, especially since the Hornets are one of if not the leagues most exciting team.

Think he definitely will make it as an injury replacement, and we will all be glad when we watch him in the game.
