Not a fan of Beasley tbh, they should have done the deal for J-Rich. Or they should load value on to Beasley to get a better piece.

I agree, but I wanted to make two points:

1. I have tried to not get too high or too low on 3P% because the stat can vary so much due to small samples. Unfortunately, it is Beasley’s primary skill, so it’s what we are stuck with. Last year, and the year before that for MIN, he shot 40%. That’s pretty impressive, because with his volume and role, he was often taking, and making, harder three’s than most people. This year, he’s been down at 34.3%, and if he’s not making three’s, he doesn’t add a whole lot else. Many fans want to see him traded (and I’d have been fine with the Celtics offer), but MIN’s style has them leading the NBA in 3PA’s, so he has a skill they really need - if he simply can put more balls on the basket.

2. It sounds like the Wolves front office may be shopping him, but I am a little surprised. He seems like the type of guy that has less value to other teams than MIN, if for no other reason, that the Minnesota media has no reason to rehash his legal issues from two summers ago. But it does show something I have been saying. Posters can get all high-and-mighty, saying that “my team would never trade for a low character guys!” but that’s not reality. Teams constantly look the other way on personal issues - if they think the player can help their team based on his skills with an orange leather ball.

* Jaylen Nowell is available but only for an elite shooter
* Taurean Prince's good play means he is less likely to be moved than he was a month ago
* Both Minnesota and Pat Bev are interested in a contract extension - likely he stays
* Confirms the Wolves turned down Malik Beasley for Josh Richardson + Nesmith but he is available
* Naz Reid and Josh Okogie are likely candidates to be moved on
* Layman can be traded for a Hershey's kiss
* Jordan McLaughlin is available as long as we get a guard in
* Leandro Bolmaro is available as a sweetener for an upgrade on a rotation spot

Me thinks Beverley, Okogie and Reid get packaged together for one consolidated player.

Not confident enough in it for it's own thread, but...

Dinwiddie used to love to troll the Knicks. That would be interesting.

I know all the reasons why not and why it shouldn't/wouldn't happen, but part of me thinks something could happen with Harden for Simmons. The vibes around Harden and the Nets feels weird to me.

Simmons and Maxey for Harden?

Claxton/Simmons/KD/Kyrie/Maxey
Embiid/Harris/Thybulle/Curry/Harden

If Fox is moved, is that a Harrison Barnes package? Maybe with some draft compensation from the Wolves?

Could be. Is that package + Minnesota lottery protected First good enough for Sacramento? Have to figure out the headcount on roster spots/slots, but the Kings aren't eating future bad salary in this proposal.

Maybe McNair and Gupta worked together in Houston years ago.

This is from the Wolves broadcast team, Jim Peterson and (edit) Dave Benz, during tonight’s game:

This is my 24th year broadcasting for this team, and this is the best chemistry in my 24 years .. even going back to the Kevin Garnett years of 2003-2004. I’m just saying, the 2003-2004 team was special, no doubt about it, but, this team was kind of put together in a grass roots way, and they’ve kind of come alive together, you know? And Kevin Garnett was MVP that year, he was a superstar -this is kind of a different model. But this group is really tight, and so fun to watch,

And that’s why, you know, I chuckle, I read some of these, you know, Bleacher Report, and they’re talking about some of the possible trades, and all these people who don’t really follow this team, and aren’t connected to it, are like, “Well, you know, um, the Timberwolves are a very nice story. Could the Timberwolves use some upgrades? Every team could use some upgrades. But, at the end of the day, do you want to disrupt the chemistry that this team has?

Counterpoint : if chemistry is what bringing the team result would bringing in another rotational player potentially affect that chemistry negatively ? Say the above trade for Harrison Barnes was done . There’s a chance chemistry might be impact ?

It’s another way of asking : would the wolves be likely to do nothing this trade deadline ? I always have them as one of the most likely to make a trade this deadline.

For example, if the Kings want to make sure Simmons is not dealt pre-deadline before pulling off a Jerami Grant deal, but also are giving Detroit a better deal than any other offer then Detroit will wait to deal Grant before taking the second best offer. Now if the Wizards have the second best offer for Grant in that case and Grant is the only difference maker on the real life trade market that will get Beal to stay then that holds up either a Jerami Grant to the Wizards or outright dealing Bradley Beal kind of swing all hinging on the Kings getting Simmons and so on.

I'm sure all the deals are lined up and if it's confirmed deadline day that Simmons won't be dealt, then in this case we will see the Grant to the Kings, Beal to Team X, etc. chain reaction happen quick and fast because all the contingency deals are already agreed upon.

We will have some trades but don't think it will come with such a big domino effect after a Simmons/Beal trade.
Philly is the only good team that can make a major trade...we have a lot of sellers and only a few buyers (most don't have assets). Pacers can wait the offseason to trade Sabonis/Turner without losing value and same with Detroit with Grant.
I would love to see a lot of trades but the more I see the standings, the less likely it is going to happen.

I have them in a position that they can be sort of picky about the details of a trade because they aren't terribly needy/desperate compared to similar playoff level teams.

An example would be a trade for Grant. Rumor/report was that Detroit said to No to THT + Nunn? + 2027 first for Grant. Utah is negative on future First round picks as are the Lakers. The pro Detroit fans think that the Market for Grant is a First round pick + at least one young player with promise such as McDaniels or Vanderbilt.

From the POV of Minnesota, they should have the market for Grant as just better than what other teams such as Lakers and Utah can offer. It doesn't have to be wildly better, just better. If Detroit refuses an offer from Minnesota, then they (Minnesota) should feel comfortable with that because that means the Pistons will also reject lesser offers from teams like Utah and the Lakers.

So I have Minnesota shopping and will consider a good deal, but not likely to make a trade to make a trade.

Chemistry?
It will need to be a player that will feel comfortable with his role. If it is a player that will want to pad stats as talking points for his next contract, then a bad fit for Minnesota.

That’s the thing as well. A player like grant might want to be more than 4th option . Does he even get to 3rd option with KAT , Ant and Dlo there ?

But yes they can comfortably outbid similar team offering.

Just guessing, but would expect NBA Front Offices to spend some time similar to what we do in Trades & Transactions analyzing what is possible and likely in trade offers from other teams for possible targets such as Grant, Barnes etc. They will have more information and better resources than we do, but the basic concepts should be the same.

I agree that Grant would possibly/probably be a poor fit in Minnesota. He would be eating into the minutes of McDaniels & Vanderbilt who are at the moment #4 and role player types. Since Grant is starting to get closer to 30 and will need a new contract in Summer 2023, being the #4 - role player for Minnesota works against him building stats for his agent to use in contract discussions just over a year from now.

Beverly is older than Grant and a lesser player at this point in time, but Beverly would/should be accepting of a Big Brother/mentor role for a modest - decent contract while Grant is likely thinking about cashing in on what is going to be his last major contract.

I could see that package being potentially enough, especially if the protections are ones that don’t turn bad luck into two seconds. Not sure if McNair can swing that. If the protections can turn the first into two seconds in the future, I think McNair either looks elsewhere or asks for better players. The relationship between McNair and Gupta is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Sounds likely and they get actual inputs from players and agent .

I would prefer to see them doing a trade too but it might not be big enough to change their starting lineup. They seems to be doing well by their standards (compared to previous years) but I guess their consideration is can we get into the top 6 and get the confirmed playoff spot

For sure our opinion count for nothing but always interesting to see a fan detailed pov on what’s happening with their team .

If you ask me I just see what can be improved but I won’t see a young team that’s probably still gelling and getting that little bit more performance as everyone improve but by bit . I won’t notice the chemistry fits.

Gupta has to decide what is in his best interest to ensure the job is his too.
