2ND Q: SPURS 57

ROCKETS 54

Another Q, another late breakdown with a **** pass leading to a TO leading to points the other way, for at least a 5-point swing.

We're getting outdone by a team whose MO is to scramble chaotically, drive downhill, and try to get points in a messy quick hectic way. And there goes our 13-point lead.

We're only 3-11 from 3 so both of those numbers have to get better.

Once again, our starting back court tandem has yet to be a threat from 3, with DJ and Derrick a combined 0-3 from 3.

But at least DJ is 6-9 from the floor. Derrick after leading us in scoring in only 3Qs last game, is 0-3. Tre being 0-1 isn't helping either. These were the two leading scorers yesterday. They played on the same court. They're in their 20s. Like, what's the **** problem? CONSISTENCY, PLEASE! Get your shots going, gents!

Speaking of which, Keldon is having a nice bounce back game, as are Doug and Jakob, and welcome back Zach! Solid work on the boards even if foot speed on D and shooting touch is still coming along.

Primo actually has had a nice touch back and has already contributed more than in all of the previous game. But his inexperience is showing.

Devin. Dude. You're getting Lonnie-itis - DO NOT SUCCUMB TO IT!

His drives have been so pretty. But his 3s have all but disappeared.

As has our lead thanks to them getting 7 steals off of our 9TOs - they are poking balls from behind, they are doubling the ball handler, they are active on the ball and on the receiver of passes. They are scrambling, and frankly outhustling us. They are hungrier.

We MUST: protect the ball, run our sets with fierce precision, rebound in both ends, contest the arc shots, and finish our good to great passes. Let's go, Spurs!

Very solid 8-0 start to the 3RD Q. Amazing what using screens, passing ahead to players who've run out to corners, and making shots can do!

Have to hand it to McDermott that time. Hustled down the court, got to a spot and MADE HIMSELF AVAILABLE to get a pass from White to hit an open shot. Primo, pay attention!!

Then instead of cutting to the basket for an easy layup he runs to the corner for no reason and wastes a fast break :banghead:

Doug's a bit of a foul machine, eh?

How does Derrick fake a 3 and then airball a floater closer?

We need to work on our fast break fundamentals. There's good to great, but we passed ourselves out of like three open chances there and then didn't score.

This is what I find frustrating. We play SO WELL at times, and then revert to bonehead mode and I just can't figure it out.

I think part of it has to do with all these guys having bigger roles and learning to be consistent in them.

For example, I thought it was just Lonnie who goes tunnel vision mode, but Pop called the timeout just now because DJ went mano-a-mano mode: takes his own J with no one else touching the ball, then drives and reverse layup missed bunny while they scored 4-0 the other way.

Excellent play call out of the timeout by Pop and great 3 by Zach.

Another end of Q situation of an opponent driving, we foul; they drive, we foul...

Yeah, they are young and learning. You would think pro basketball players would actually know fundamental basketball by the time they become pros though. Yes I'll be get off my lawn guy for a minute

Good sub Jakob in for Zach. A couple of TOs late here by Zach so we need some stability. I like the effort in the pass though.

3RD Q: SPURS 97

ROCKETS 77

Well that was quite the break out Q.

DJ got a bit of ISO-itis that Pop curbed with a timeout.

We only TOd it 3 times, two by Zach late, so it was a cleaner Q.

40 points is a terrific scoring output.

We caught up to them in made 3s, but they are ahead of us in FTs so we have to make sure we run back hard on D.

I liked our two way game overall. Zach contributing in little ways.

NOW keep it clean, keep it forceful, keep growing our lead!

I expect them to pick up the pace and increase the chaos and try to beat us down the court so we must be ever vigilant.

Yep. We've come to the portion of the game where every **** drive is apparently a foul.
