I will just add that MIN doesn’t get many local leaks any more, but the best source right now is Jon Krawcinski. I put up a wall of text on the trade board, but his comments a few days ago included this

* Jaden McDaniels would require 'a massive return
* Both Minnesota and Pat Bev are interested in a contract extension - likely he stays
* Confirms the Wolves turned down Malik Beasley for Josh Richardson + Nesmith but he is available

I also noted the order he talked about the players. KAT and ANT were untouchable, then he talked about McDaniels, then he talked about Vanderbilt and DLo. It surprises me a little, but after hearing all the big talk about Jaden for the last year, I suspect his order reflects the order that the front office values these guys. It’s very unlikely McDaniels is just used as small, add in value.

If we're trying to get Dame kiss a lot of our picks goodbye.

Dame, Nurkic, Zeller, Simons
Beverley, Beasley, Prince, JO, Layman Bolmaro + 3 UFRP, 3 pick swaps, 3 seconds

Dame/Simons
DLo/Nowell
Ant/McDaniels
Vando/Reid
KAT/Nurkic/Zeller

That does look like a championship squad.

If Portland trades Damian Lillard (I wouldn't expect it, they are most likely just sandbagging this year because he is probably out for the season), the hope for them would be to build around Anfernee Simons.

I think the hope would be to get someone to build around. Simons isn't it.

i'd do beasley, beverly and a 1st rder for Marcus Smart, Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford
Then Prince+Okogie+1st rder for one of Myles Turner; Harrison Barnes; or Julius Randle

In 2022, he has averaged 22.8 PPG and 6.4 APG on 45.6/41.9/86.7 shooting percentage splits. He is a solid young piece.

3 way b/w Knicks, Min and Kings?

Knicks in: Reid, Okogie and De'aaron Fox
Out: Randle, Noel, Alec Burks

Min in: Harrison Barnes, Noel, Burks
Out: Reid, Beasley, Okogie, Prince

Kings in: Randle, Beasley and Prince
Out: Barnes and Fox
Pretty fair trade for all parties involved

Beverly/Novell
DLo/Burks
Edwards/McDaniels
Barnes/Vanderbilt
Towns/Noel

Kind of a head scratcher for Portland. Gave up 2 1sts for Covington and Gary Trent for Norman Powell and now salary dumped them.
I guess Johnson was the 21st pick in last years (awful) draft, and it will open up some cap to maybe sign someone next summer.
But Simons will be a RFA they will have to re-sign too.
Good deal for the Clips short and long term as Powell is better than the other guards they have right now and is a good catch and shoot player to pair with leonard and george.

Bullseye! I was going to say the exact same thing!

I like Doogie, but since he covers all MIN sports and not just pro basketball, I think his speculation is below average.

With Wolfson you have to separate his opinions from the things he reports from sources. I value his source based insights, but don't give his opinions a lot of weight.

Interesting that Boston is reportedly willing to do Richardson for Beasley.
Would be nice to have that in our back pocket if we need a 3rd team to move Beasley in a bigger deal.

Richardson is acutally up to 39% from 3 this year, well above his career average, and Beasley is well below his career average.
Not a fan of Nesmith or Langford.
Did Boston pick up their options for next year? If so, not interested, would spend the ~4 million elsewhere.
I could see Richardson being a fit, his defensive versatility might fit better with our scheme.

Kind of a different spot we are in this year with having good team chemistry.
Making a trade just to make a trade is suddenly not so great an idea.
Even Beasley is playing a better floor/team game and Prince has all of a sudden become a positive contributor after an awful start. Layman and Okogie are probably the safest to move, even if the return is only a player with a slightly smaller contract which opens up enough room to add a vet minimum player.

Outside of a blockbuster, don't see a whole lot of obvious moves.

If they are still willing to give you Richardson and Langford for Beasley you demand a JMAC for Pritchard switch and offer a 2nd as a kicker if necessary. Pritchard has more upside and is worth the 2nd.

Most of the "inside info" you hear about is from agents and those are the people most likely to talk to him.
He had the Rosas being a creeper scoop and sat on that until it came out but hinted about things not being great in the wolves FO.
His own speculation isnt always the greatest, and sometimes these guys do get misled.
And talking about his kids on his public twitter all the time is just cringe.

Jon K is probably the only other solid source of legit inside information, but he is more cautious about what he lets out.
If I want to read an opinion piece about the team, Dane Moore seems to have a lot better insight into the x's and o's and breaking down why things are working and not working and if I want an actual basketball breakdown of the team hes my go to.

This was my thought....neither team has a ton of middling contracts that they'd be open to giving up to get things to balance out....& maybe a Layman or Okogie could easily be turned into a Reed or Claxton....both guys that I felt would be very much toward the top of my margins big addition (but would've been extremely difficult to get on our own)....this gives us a definite window assuming both sides are going to be legitimately serious about putting this Simmons saga to rest.

Wolves out: Beasley/Okogie/MIN 2022 top 4 protected 1st
Celtics out: Smart/Nesmith

Smart would fill the Beveley role for the foreseeable future (with Beverley off the bench when healthy). I think Beverly would still be re-signed, but at a price point that reflects the fact that he's missed 40% of the games over the last 2.5 season.

I’m moderately interested but very conservative with giving up a pick until we add a PF

I've become convinced that Beasley isn't a good fit with the DLO/ANT/KAT/Vanderbilt/McDaniels core, so moving him and what should be a non-lottery 1st for a core guy seems like a good move. I still think the Wolves need another bench big, but that can be a smaller move for the short term (with a longer term answer being addressed in the off-season).
That's the same deal I posted earlier as well as a good landing spot with Boston.

This & Layman (add 2nd if needed) get mixed into the Harden/Simmons deal for Claxton or Reed....& call it a day.
