My prediction: Sacramento. Don't know who, but they have a bunch of young guys of various sizes that seem to fit the Masai mold. And we aren't giving up a first rounder.
'Cos it's easier to try
Than to prove it can't be done

So you want one of their good young players without giving up a 1st round pick? How exactly does that work? Pretty sure they're not giving away Davion or Hali for nothing. I don't think a 1st round pick gets you either, they are both playing well.

No one even knew he was available...but my guess would be NAW.
We don't have a "Norm" type player available but I'd definitely try flipping a 1st for him and unlike Gary, being a hometown kid he'd probably gladly commit long term.
Thats a good under the radar move. Value moves r the only moves i see us making. Price will be too high for high rumoured guys.

I agree. Everyone talks about this team deserving help but Masai will think long term.

We aren't getting either for just a 1st round pick. They both were lotto picks and Haliburton has increased his value. I would look at them in the offseason if Fred does not extend.

if we do grab a C I think we lean on experience for a playoff run, and have someone Precious can play behind & learn from
I don't love Poetle but it makes sense. I like Myles but the price is too high. hopefully there's someone else under the radar we aren't thinking about
Idk why some of you guys keep saying stuff like this as if we have to make a run THIS year...why?! lol
We're just re-starting, Masai even said publicly that this is a "year of development" so a player like Claxton, Bamba, Smith etc would make perfect sense. There's no rush to contend this year.
It's hilarious how so many of you say how important it is for young guys to "get Playoff experience" but then when they need it, want to make impatient moves for minimal difference in the short term when we should be thinking long term.
with the assets we have have available we are looking to make a tune up for the playoffs. we want someone proven who can improve our team for the playoffs
it's hilarious how little some of you grasp how teams use the trade deadline
we are in the playoff hunt. we're going to make a trade to BETTER our position & chances to win in the playoffs. at this point in the season, the teams that are gearing up for a playoff run use the deadline to plug holes in their roster
last year, we were in the lottery. we traded Norm Powell to get WORSE short term, bettering our draft pick and looking to improve our future prospects
it's no surprise the names we are linked to are all players who would improve our team immediately: JV, Poetle, Turner, Gallinari, Nurkic etc.

Not sure if posted already:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/report-raptors-have-expressed-interest-in-portlands-jusuf-nurkic/ar-AATvveq
We're getting one of those guys. Any of them except Gallinari would make me happy. I've been high on Claxton ever since our last Nets game. To me he's bigger and a bit more advance than Precious, though I like Precious's recent improvement. At 6'10-6'11 he's above the demarcation line of true center vs undersized like our 6'9 guys.
But Nurk, he's the real deal, would give us a guy to battle Vuc, Embiid and other playoff centers.
All these rumors about centers, there's got to be some fire for all that smoke. Gasol didn't come out of the blue, he was rumored for days or weeks before the deal was made.

The Toronto Raptors are reportedly interested in trying to trade for Portland Trail Blazers big Jusuf Nurkic
Add Jusef Nurkic to the list of trade targets for the Toronto Raptors.
Toronto has reportedly expressed interest in the Portland Trail Blazers' 27-year-old big, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. He joins a list that reportedly includes Jakob Poeltl, Myles Turner, Robert Williams III, Nicolas Claxton, and Danilo Gallinari.

Re: Trade Deadline Discussion & Rumours - Raptors and NBA
Did I say anywhere Haliburton or Mitchell? They are too highly valued for us to go after them. Masai isn't going for a high-value starter, he'll go for the undervalued, under the radar choice and take a chance that it is a bench upgrade. Someone like Queta, Ramsay, maybe even Bagley if he can steal him. Sac is a losing franchise with a pile of youngsters and another lottery pick upcoming. I don't see Masai giving up our 2022 frp yet. Not for a bench upgrade.Madhouse wrote:KL78192020 wrote:Backcountry wrote:My prediction: Sacramento. On of my favourite fake trades is the Dragic/Precious/Frp for Poeltl/McDermott. Gives us a legit 5 and a shooter off the bench, while still being good for a few more years.

I'm confused though, JV isn't on the Spurs? You mean a 3 way deal?
