The Toronto Raptors are reportedly interested in trying to trade for Portland Trail Blazers big Jusuf Nurkic

Add Jusef Nurkic to the list of trade targets for the Toronto Raptors.

Toronto has reportedly expressed interest in the Portland Trail Blazers' 27-year-old big, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. He joins a list that reportedly includes Jakob Poeltl, Myles Turner, Robert Williams III, Nicolas Claxton, and Danilo Gallinari.

We're getting one of those guys. Any of them except Gallinari would make me happy. I've been high on Claxton ever since our last Nets game. To me he's bigger and a bit more advance than Precious, though I like Precious's recent improvement. At 6'10-6'11 he's above the demarcation line of true center vs undersized like our 6'9 guys. :)

But Nurk, he's the real deal, would give us a guy to battle Vuc, Embiid and other playoff centers.

All these rumors about centers, there's got to be some fire for all that smoke. Gasol didn't come out of the blue, he was rumored for days or weeks before the deal was made.

Dude, if we somehow land Nurkic at the deadline, im gonna go crazy with excitement. We become champship contenders as soon as next season while being scary as hell for any team this year.

Can't see Nurkic. He is a very good player but a FA and will command a lot of money. Masai won't acquire a rental. Myles Turner is the one player that makes sense to me but the asking price seems to be too high and he is injured.

None of the other Centers really add up to me in terms of asking price, contract situation etc.

I think we will get a guard.

Its the same reason why we're linked to centers. The click baiters research each market for each team and get a sense of what fans are asking for. Then they post "rumors" that cater to those demands to get the clicks.

I could be wrong but i doubt we have inquired about ANY center. Lots of ppl on raptor twitter have talked about centers so thats what we get in media.

The article you quoted is absolutely made by a delusional laker fan.

But lets not discredit the Michael Scotto report. He's one of the best in the Biz and is truly trusted. I fully believe the Centers report.

I don't trust any of these rumours. With the way this team is playing there's no need for a change in the starting lineup and some of the rumoured players are not bench players. The Raptors need guard/forward production off the bench.

Knicks get expiring for dude they have on books for another year and don't want. Raps get a really good backup that cooked us not too long ago.

Image

Raps pay future second round pick in exchange for Portland's poo poo plater expirings including Nurkic who'll be a very useful piece in certain matchups this season

Image

Raps pay a protected FRP for 1.5 seasons of Myles Turner, Indy gets expiring Goran. Huge 2 way upgrade at center.

We have a good starting lineup what we are clearly lacking is depth and thats basically it...We need a good rim protecting big and a few real bench player depth and we be good....If Masai can get a real C and 2 solid role players at the deadline its a W

Why on earth would u give up boucher for kemba. His contract is nothing so you can ship off a late srp and salary filler for him

Nah, he knows what's what.

Toronto is the number 7 seed in a very tough Eastern Conference this year. They do need some help at the 5, but there are probably better options out there for them than Dwight Howard and an aging DeAndre Jordan. So while it's not likely that they land GTJ, it's fun to dream.

PhilBlackson wrote:FRP for Hart?! Oh hell no lol

This board loves mediocre role players, there's a reason NOP are saying they're looking for a SG (ie/ what Hart is lol because he's not that great) and JV?! You can't be serious lol he'd singlehandedly kill our defence as he did when he was here. He has cinderblocks for feet. About the only player I'd want (besides Ingram ofc) would be NAW, if not the rest is pretty trash.

I'd be ok with Bogi, LeVert or HBarnes if they had more than just one season left after this season but they don't so it's just a waste. Unless we can get ANY of the aforementioned names for Goran + 2nds, then do not want. I'd focus on some younger talent like Bamba who's also a RFA we can control or Boucher for Jalen Smith type of deal.

I don't think Hart is mediocre at all, and he's more of a fit for the Raptors. You suggested 3 scorers, but the team already has their scoring "core" of Siakam, Fred, OG and Trent and want to develop Barnes as one as well. That requires Bogi, LeVert and Barnes to subvert their games. He's just underrated playing in a swamp, and doesn't get a lot of publicity. He'd lead the current Raptors on 2PT FG% (including Boucher!), and he'd be our best rebounder (at 6"5). He's the right age (not too old, doesn't have to learn the league) and his contract is great. That's worth a protected 1st. If you look at where the Raptors are weakest, it's experience, defensive rebounding and 2PT FG%. One player helps all three areas, and he can play 1-4, so he's super versatile.

I just doubt the Raptors can get him with even a 1st. He's likely going to be used as bait to get McCollum.

He's a blogger.

Fans being fans...they want to believe they have value to trade.

Yes...it sounds likely they will push the THT/Nunn package on someone and make a trade but it won't be for someone as productive as Gary Trent Jr.
