Looks like Wood wants no part of a trade and is happy in Houston. Don’t think anything happens without an extreme overpay. Cross him off list

Houston seems like such a dysfunctional team but maybe he likes being the focal point. He'll definitely have a better chance of becoming a max player over there than here.
oh well not a huge loss like I said wilts

Was there ever a case in NBA history of a player ending his season as a result of a non-basketball injury?
We need another big, one that can shoot and move.
Jay Williams (Bulls 2nd round pick 2002?) motorcycle accident comes to mind (but that's pretty much his fault).
John Wall fell off the stairs and tore his achilles
I don't know if there has ever been a case where a player's season was ruined by a physical act of violence by an opposing player

He makes things look awkward and tough at times, but there’s no doubt he’s the player with the highest ceiling on our roster. He made a big leap in the bubble season but has kinda plateaued since signing the big deal. I think he has another level, it’s on the coaching staff to unlock that within him. He should be a perennial All-Star.
He forces the D to collapse in the paint and breaks down interior protection. It helps everything on our offense run better. Once the paint breaks down, suddenly our guys have a step on the defender as they're going through resulting sets and moving the ball. If Bam can be auto aggressive when the opportunity presents itself and Dipo can be a serviceable slasher, that could be a BIG boost to how the offense functions

Harrison Barnes makes too much $$$, could we go over the taz for him? Kinda doubtful.
Who else is out there that is really good to play real playoff minutes?
We need another good big, counting on huge minutes from Tucker and Dedmon is a bad idea.

I do think it takes a lot of reps to become a good and efficient as a first/second option - at least for non natural scorers (like Bam).
Wish we've demand Bam to be duper aggressive to start the year, now we don't have a lot of time to try things out.
I don't mind if Bam scores at below average TS% for half a season if he's playing aggressively, with more time and practice he'll get better with his reads and finishing.

I wonder.....
I don't recall him being an ultra-loyal guy in the past. he has changed teams so many times.;. it makes you wonder. I really like some of the stuff Silas has done, and how he has used him. It could just be right coach right time...but...
this feels like a red flag. I wonder if the low expectations are attractive to him. They have not been expected to win and he can kinda just do his thing. He might want absolutely nothing to do with Miami and the expectations.
I don't think any team is going to take on his potential character concerns without 100% buy-in, which would be a problem since Miami is going to want 130% buy-in.
Damn shame

Probably wants more money in free agency than Miami would be willing to pay him when his contrct expires after next season. He also has free reign of the offense in Houston, he wouldn't be getting nearly as many shots here as he is now. Kind of sucks for us, but it's probably a smart business decision for him long-term

For me, it was 2 years ago. In the bubble year, I remember having no qualms about trading him for a guy like Embiid due to Bam's lack of aggression. A hot take at the time considering how much Bam was (and still is) adored, but I felt that we couldn't win a championship if he was going to be nothing more than a facilitator and screen setter on offense who goes for o-rebs --- along with the fact that he was content in that role. I eventually started realizing that it wasn't just Bam; it was also our offensive system and the fact that our other players ignore our bigs / look for their own shots and don't feel any obligation to get our bigs involved. The last revelation was that Spo never viewed Bam as a scorer. Instead, he viewed Bam as a guy who gets Duncan open for 3s.

Hachimura is a good player and the fact he’s been injured might be able to get him on the low

I think those are more realistic expectations; a backup PF to replace Markief.
Christian Wood seems more like a player that Riley would add if the Heat were a mid/lower tier team. A Hassan Whiteside or Dion Waiters type.

I think it'd be incredible if we could get Rui for Duncan. He's a very good player on both ends. He's had mental health issues this year though, which is a concern. But I think it was more so associated with what he experienced in the Olympics than NBA basketball.

Saudades.

A deal would have to include Duncan, I dont think there is any combo of our minimum contract guys that would entice Washington. I’d be open to a Duncan/KZ for Rui/Harrell package. MWP brings up a good point though, Washington is already at their quota for one dimensional hot and cold shooters.

Rui has been dealing with mental issues and Washington has been keeping his role down to low pressure situations. I don’t think the Heat have any interest
