Caris LeVert traded to Cavaliers

Post#1 » by Topofthekey » Sun Feb 6, 2022 9:34 pm

Cavaliers are acquiring him for a Rubio, 2022 lottery protected pick, and two 2RPs

Not a bad haul at all, though I would have wanted either Okoro or Osman in the deal as well

But what I really I want is to see him swap jerseys at halftime

We also gave up a 2nd rounder in this deal.

Regardless, this is a good haul and probably a move in the right direction for the Pacers in terms of a rebuild. I suppose now the question is who is next?

That would be absolutely hilarious to see. Thanks for the post.

I'm not real informed on this year's draft. Cleveland's FRP looks like it will be around pick number 24 or so. I have heard that this draft is not especially deep, so I wonder what (make that who) we could come away with at that pick?

Anyway, this may give a small boost to the tank effort.

I kinda hate to go here on this, but in a round-about way this means all we got for Victor was an expiring and a late 1st round pick? Not sure how I feel about that.

this is disaster... we gave Levert for 20th pick... probably new Leaf... Pritchard has to be fired immediately

now is better for them to lose every game until the end... what a bad trade... one of the worst in history... I expected Sexton for Levert

In essence the Pacers got a late first and a second round pick from Utah for LeVert. In the process upgraded their second round from a Miami to a much better Houston pick. Not a huge haul but sets the table for team offense style of play.

So, I guess this begs another question. With the seeming emergence of some of our young guys, do we actually end up using this 1st RP in the draft, or do we use it as a bit of a sweetener in another trade? Say, such as adding it to Turner to get a better return in a possible deal involving him?

This team is shaping up as a very young team as is. I have a hard time picturing us actually using all those picks (both the 1rp's and 2rp's) ourselves. Of course, some of the current roster may well find themselves with the Mad Ants next year, so there is that.

Those expecting Sextonto for LeVert are my kind of guys.
Never let the harsh reality mess with our pink unicorn dreams.

Talking about harsh reality: Any idea what will happen with RRubio expiring?
I don't know the rules about it and googleing is unfair.

Can you trade him again without restrictions into this same deadline?
Can you cut him? (don't ask me why you should... I just wanna know if that's possible).
Are you planning let it expire?

It's a great trade. We didn't need a player in Duarte's way. We clear a second roster spot for draftee. Lamb will expire for other spot.

Were I gm I use it on a point guard. Our own first should have big wing as PBA.

We got nothing, everyone expected Okoro or something better... Cavs 1st pick is a trash... when you make a trade you should get some good value... now we will be trash in next few years, maybe this is the end of the franchise in Indy

No one reasonable expected Okoro. We sold Levert at the absolute highest we could. A mid to late 1st and a super early 2nd are good value. Put them together, and maybe you can grab another Isaiah Jackson type pick of talent falling into the 20’s.

Having extra unencumbered first round picks are great! Having a pick at the top of the 2nd round is great! We probably couldn’t have asked for anything more.

We have never drafted good player when we had 20-25 pick... I dont see that it will be different this year

Pritchard has drafted Isaiah Jackson and Aaron Holiday in that range. That’s not bad. We also just historically haven’t drafted a ton in hat range. Solo Hill amd Miles Plumlee had long careers. Jeff Foster, Al Harrington, and Travis Best were all key contributors to some of the best Pacers teams ever.

But seriously, what other offers do you think were out there for Levert? We weren’t pulling Okoro. Sexton is going into free agency. What do you think we could’ve gotten for Caris that we turned down? His was likely the tippy top of what we could’ve gotten for him in reality. Heck, it’s likely a bit of an overpay for Cleveland.
