Not sure how you come to that conclusion. Nurse runs a switch heavy scheme, will need a 5 that is capable of guarding perimeter. Jakob a better fit

Nurse was the "coach" of the 2017-2018 Bench Mob, while Casey focused on the starters. To the extent that he has any input into roster decisions (and he certainly did with the Scottie pick), Nick has to be pushing for Poeltl.

Agreed.

Side note on Turner, if there’s an character red flags there, obviously we have some really good insight from Nate. Whatever is going on in Indiana, and something is clearly still not right there, Nate got a first hand look at it. If we do get Turner, it’ll be because Nate gave the green light.

Excellent point. Which further demonstrates that we have absolutely no idea about any of this stuff, but can trust Masai and team to have it all under control. I'm also sure Alex McKechnie would pre-clear Turners' foot problem before the trade went through.

Why San Antonio does it? They get a look at Malachi Flynn as a perhaps a future backup PG. They get 2 picks. Khem can soak up minutes at backup C while Zach Collins works his way back to form as their starting C.

Why Toronto does it? Jakob Poeltl is a solid defensive center and is exactly who we need to guard Embiid, Vuc, Jokic, etc. We get a look at Lonnie Walker who is restricted free agent this summer. Thad Young is expiring.

I hate the idea of trading Birch, but I think he makes a lot of sense there. I would also rather McDermott than Thad for the shooting.

Lol bro Same. I think Dragic trade is gonna go down to the wire, unfortunately. Just my guess.

I know people here are obviously cooking up 2 team trades involving Dragic....but I think Masai/Bobby are gonna hold on to Dragic as long as they can until Thursday's deadline, to potentially see if they can get involved in a larger 3 team or 4 team deal where Dragic's salary might come in very handy.

Kinda like how the Cavs ended up getting involved in the James Harden deal and stole away Jarrett Allen

Washington and Indiana reported deal for Sabonis intrigues me because Washington will be eager to move Spencer Dinwiddie's contract of thats the case even more.

Maybe get involved in a 3-way and get Spencer Somehow

Also not a huge fan of trading Birch. When Birch is healthy, he's shown that he can be easily our best big with a high +/. In the playoffs, you're gonna need the higher IQ plays to win. PRecious and Boucher are still so hectic and chaotic. Especially precious.

To me, Birch should get traded only for a legitimate upgrade. Not a marginal upgrade in guys like Bamba/Smith/Theis/Bagley.

Albeit, for Poetl, obviously I'd be down

Raptors are def holding out for a large 3-way or 4-way type of deal where they can somehow maybe get 2 bench assets for Dragic's salary. Or something like that

If we are getting Poeltl...Birch is expendable.

And if you think you can get Lonnie Walker to buy into our system and get him back on a decent contract over the summer...he could be a nice bench piece.

Shocked if we give up our FRP this year. We still need to add through the draft and we dont have our 2nd this year.
It would just look foolish to go out in the first round and we got no picks to improve the club

Definitely don’t want Yak, any center we get should at least be able to hit some free throws. We have just been terrible at it this year and if we add a terrible FT shooting center that will compound the problem of teams just fouling him.

Turner, Sabonis, or any center that can shoot and be a stretch 5 to space is what we need.

I'd be a lot more open to a trade with SAS if we get Walker too (any of their young wings really) but personally not feeling Yak's floor space killing offensive game and giving teams the ability to "Hack-A-Yak" because he's an absolute garbage shooter.

Yes he's a bad free throw shooter...but he won't play enough for it to matter.

Let's be honest...Jakob is here to guard the big centers...so sometimes he plays 15 minutes...sometimes he plays 25 minutes depending on the matchups.

The death line-up for like 90% of our games is going to be Fred/Gary/OG/Scottie/Pascal...and it will be until one of those guys is moved.

So the net effect of Jakob's shooting issues is going to be negligible. And I guarantee you...if you get Jak back in the Raptors organization...they'll work on improving his shooting.

Not if you get someone like Turner. This is a pretty bad draft by all accounts.

In 2014 we traded Auston Daye for the legend Nando de Colo … just some food for thought.

Now even winning 48 gMes, we were no where near miami indiana and chicago level.

This year we can so far compete with everyone so its definitely different as the east is wide open with 7-8 teams but in year 1 of this rebuild, its too premature to give up our 22’ first. No second this year and if we lose in first rd thats a waste and a huge chip we coulda had to improve the club

The media seems to believe these rumours of us auto giving this FRP…. Im not buying it , just not a masai move at this stage.

Disagree. And we need a guard over a big right now. Domt see us moving barnes to the bench and its a fkin waste to give up a first for a bench player

I like that way of thinking.
