Idont know, it feels like Barnes would solidify us as the new Hawks

Barnes has been dead to me since he shot golden state out of that title. Easy pass

I recall this post and it's the reason that I responded the way I did. 8-)

I might as well be captain of the Harrison Barnes fan club huh

If we can acquire PJ Washington in deal for Yurt, you do that yesterday. This team is competing now. And although Yurt has loads of talent and promise, he’s still a project.

PJ Washington is the perfect complement to Bam on both ends of the floor and gives this team a young starter at the 4 for the future.

Hopefully we can pull this off.

Absolutely not. 7 footers who are more than serviceable don't grow on trees. I'd give up Gabe + a 2nd but not Yurt. Especially for PJ Washington, whose gonna be the backup 4.
PJ ain't gonna guarantee Heat win a title. In fact he will have marginal impact. And in the long run, its more likely we don't win a ring than we do in the Lowry/Butler era. So you just can't give young players who ton of potential for marginal improvements. Yurt can be a piece you build around along side Bam & Herro after the Butler era ends.
From what we've seen from him this season, you have to see him playing real minutes next year before deciding on his future long term. He has a chance to be a high level role player or even borderline allstar. But we won't know till he gets minutes. And we definitely won't know if we give him away for backup PF.

I'm not keen on PJ.

And Yurt's potential looks greater.

I'm hoping that he develops into the team's longterm answer at C.

How is it that everybody keeps talking about how much depth we have, and yet if you suggest trading that depth for any decent to good players, all of a sudden its recognized that the other team would never take on that uber talented "depth" for their good players? lol

The depth isn't depth if nobody wants it for anything good. Like it can be one or the other, but it can't be both.

Depends on the context.

Bad teams looking to rebuild don't need depth. Good teams lacking depth aren't gonna give away a piece that they need in order to contend. The teams that trade for depth are usually the ones that are loaded at a single position and can afford to offload one of their players. Or teams will trade a player that they'll risk losing in FA.

Anyway, context matters. What trades are you referring to?

I'm not giving up a first for players that aren't clear upgrades. PJ looked like crap this last Hornets game too. He's not more valuable then Yurt IMO, he just might be a better fit next to Bam.

Also there's 0 chance we're targeting Rui Hachimura - a player that didn't report to training camp and missed like half the season due to the pressures of playing for the Washington Wizards. Come on now. No chance.

Yurtseven + Morris For PJ Washington works on trade machine.

We shouldn't add Gabe/picks for PJ Washington. He's a nice fit but I don't see much upside there, not sure he's good enough to ever be a starter.

It's not an exciting trade but it's probably a smart one for us. PJ has some BB IQ and can shoot. Not sure about his overall impact.

If we could somehow trade Duncan for Marcus Morris that would be amazing. Salaries match I believe and Clips have Covington now and might value Duncan for next few yrs to spread the floor for KL and PG. Maybe add a pick depending on their interest?

PJ Washington is another tweener midget that duplicates Caleb Martin. I would only do DRob or Keef for him since PJ gives you a defensive upgrade and is shooting a better 3 point percentage anyways.

No yurt, no picks. That's that.

DRob might be better in this system anyways.

Preach jele. Need Riley whispering in Spos ear bout the beauty of big men. Kareem, Ewing, Zo, Yurt.

One of the big reasons Miami drafted and then gave Bam the max was his ability to play center and to allow basically the whole team be switchable on defense. If you add a regular center to the mix it dramatically changes the defense. I'm not saying it's right but that's what their thinking has been with Bam, he's a defensive system, move him to PF and it takes away some of his value.

We've already seen that Bam struggles to contain 7 footers. What's going to happen when we meet Philly in the second round? Who is going to guard Embiid?

I find it hilarious how many people on this board were foaming at the mouth for Jae Crowder (with some reason), scoffed the addition of Pj Tucker, and now presented with the possibility to add a 23 old stretch 4 with size, defensive versatility and high BBIQ; reject the notion as a move of meaningless impact.

Just because Charlotte doesn’t know how to use a player like PJ Washington doesn’t mean he has no value.

You don’t waste Jimmy and Kyle Lowry to develop Yurtseven.

Here are Omer's numbers as a starter:

Forget Yurtseven's development, how much money would they offer him as a free agent if he keeps those numbers all season? And how much money would PJ Washington be offered as a free agent at the end of the season? By the way, did you know that Omer still has a rookie salary until 2023? Omer needs minutes. Game after game as a starter, he improved at an unbelievably fast rate. If he were playing as a starter all season, he would be rookie of the year. Is this the player you want to sacrifice for PJ Washington?

By the way, here are the stats for PJ Washington:
