That’s some really great stuff. I agree.

I’m not usually a big fan of gospel music, assuming that’s what this is,
but both these guys singing in duet here are modern day disciples of
Hank and I really think non Christians (me) shouldn’t let Christians have
this song just for themselves. So I’ve even sung this song myself, in public.

Or as others have put it, you can’t take it with you when you go.

And better yet - is Willie and son covering... a Pearl Jam song

Eric Clapton is being a jerk. He had done some questionable things in the past
including a racist rant (probably drunk, not an excuse) back in the 70s.
I will think more deeply about the occasional song of his I do and maybe
not do them or do them less frequently. Van Morrison too. People that
behave like accepting the consequences of not being vaccinated is
something akin to real oppression or worse need to think a little harder
about this philosophy.

I was going to refrain from this but Clapton is being a dick.
Maybe because he actually is a dick but nobody cared
much before.

Good show coming up. LETTUCE plays the 9:30 club Nov 5th. They're a funk based jam band with a drummer who is one of the more entertaining listens out there right now when he gets space to cut loose. Basically stoner funk.

Here with a Go Go groove:

and another:

Ambient trance sorta thing:

Video:

Should be good value for the ticket, they tend to play a long show. Often with guest spots for local artists to jump in.

Doc, I’m digging Lettuce!

Real tight groove on that first clip. Got that Afro Caribbean Cuban kind of sound with the horns. Got a Freddy Krueger type of vibe with the initial synthesizer. Nice!
Bye bye Beal.

This is what I thought he was before "Tears from Heaven" - which was really a distraction from what he really was.

In recent discussions with some friends, we agreed that the 70"s was the greatest era in popular Music, rock/soul, perhaps it has to do with the evolution of blues/rock/soul that ushered-in an incredibly impressive run of outstanding music that ran the entire decade.

I'd go with the mid 60's through the mid 70's. I think the early 90's was underrated.

Speaking of the 90's and because I just used the word "nutshell" in another thread, here's the haunting acoustic version by Alice in Chains:

So, a big fan of disco, funk, and prog rock are we?

I found the beginning of that era great, the end of it pretty good, the middle awful, and most of the 80s to be far more inventive, more like the mid to late 60s where every outsider with a couple of friends was starting up a band, some of which were actually interesting and good.

I liked grunge but the 90s didn't seem to have that chaotic energy.

I'm a grunge guy - it's amazing how it lost it's steam in just one decade and how few people even remember it. And I'm still into 60's to early 70's rock. Not into the other stuff, tbh.

Speaking of grunge, one of the few remaining frontmen passed away a few days ago - Mark Lanegan -known mainly as the leader of The Screaming Trees. He didn't have the big voice that the bigger stars of the genre - Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Eddie Vedder, and Kurt Cobain - had, but he had a cool gravelly voice that was enjoyable to listen to. And he had some versatility to him. My favorite performance of his was when he sang on Staley's project - Mad Season - "Long gone day". You can tell at 1:25 that Staley had the much bigger voice, but Lanegan set the tone with such a cool bluesy vibe.

There's great music at every pick in the draft. No, wait.... :) there's great music in every decade. At every moment. Someone's making great music right now.

This is from the 1950s:

So is this -- I put it here for Zards & the (seemingly?) few jazz fans on the board (note that music doesn't start until @1:57) :
