A solid Yes for me. Pick would be nice, especially if it was their 2022. Nurkic NEEDS help... he can only tow so much of the line. With ROCO now gone we are even thinner, because Nance seemingly can't stay on the court. To that point, heard game announcers last night say Nance was all set to return last night, but was a late scratch. Bagley played at DUKE... that's all I need. Do It! I don't want any of their garbage though, just Bagley thank you.

Nance for Bagley would really do a lot to rinse out the bad taste of that last trade.

Yahoo sports has rumors that the Raptors have inquired about Nurkic and may be willing to offer their FRP.

Wiretap has Mavs interested in CJ, but don’t see any logical trade that could work.

Not a bagley fan but this seems decent

The Kings are so inept when it comes to developing their talent. Bagley showed a ton of promise early on and the Kings did nothing to cultivate it, per usual.

He would be a phenomenal buy-low guy and rehab his career. I think getting out of sac would do wonders for him anyway.

Unless there is an offer that just blows us away, I would want to hold on to Nurkic until the off-season and make a decision then. But who knows, maybe Cronin has some master plan, including 2022 draftees, or maybe he'll just snatch the Raptors 2021 FRP too. Not sure what the trade for Nurkic would look like either, and not a big Siakam fan, just to note. Active early though.. Loving that.

I wouldn't expect Portland to be willing to take on another injured big but who knows?

He’s a lot healthier than Nance’s injury history was when the Blazers traded him.

I would do a CJ for KP swap, but I don’t think KP is the kind of player Billups wants. I think Billups has a lot of say over what moves get made and the kind of players he wants Cronin to make a move for. Can’t imagine KP would fit the tough minded defensive mold Billups is looking for.

this might not be the most popular , but how about AFTER we trade cj to whoever we trade DAME to ATL for collins, bogdanor huerter and a cpl of their picks ?
imo we're going to need some picks in the near future since ours are locked up.

Yeesh… absolutely brutal.

Also, why does Atlanta do this?

Keon Johnson didn't play last night, but Justise Winslow did. KJ might be on the trade block.

Trade him for a first. And then package the first will Bledsoe to get Myles Turner?

KJ is most definitely not on the trade block. I also don’t think Portland could get a FRP in return for him even if they wanted.

Sooooo… yeah

I don’t think KJ could return even a projected 25-30 FRP.

This idea we are going to flip the LAC guys in a way that makes the deal less horrible is just wishful thinking.

Keon didn’t play bc he isn’t good at basketball. He is an athlete who needs years of development to become even a rotation guy IMO.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I mean in a way I understand the deal, get more athletic. But we got more athletic at positions we already had a logjam at.

Yes it's wishful thinking, but that bad trade could have been made at the deadline. I think it was done early because a 2nd trade is planned...

Maybe the Blazers take a small bad contract in exchange for KJ. That way they get a better FRP for him.

Maybe the Blazers get a pick for Nurkic.

Package those picks with Bledsoe for a starting big suchas Myles Turner

I have seen almost no minutes of Bagley playing so I can't gauge. Nance is a decent player, but he's way too injury prone. And, he will not alter Portland's trajectory in any meaningful way; maybe Bagley could

as for Dallas, I see something that works, but I'm not sure how much they covet CJ. I do think CJ would fit well with Doncic and Porzingas

******************************************

it's a two part trade because Winslow has to be traded by himself

A) CJ + Snell for Powell + Bullock + Kleiber

B) Winslow for Dorian Finney-Smith

I really like Powell (although he's been an injury magnet the Previous 2 seasons. Kleiber is a modern NBA big. DSF is decent 2-way player. Portland does not have enough of those. I am a little surprised he already 28

maybe it's asking too much, but the Blazers are taking on 3 contracts that are not expiring and the headache of re-signing DFS, Ant, & Nurkic all at the same time

*****************************************

if asking for DSF is too much for Dallas, then do this 3-team deal:

CJ + Snell for Powell + Bullock + Kleiber + Dallas 1st round pick

send the Dallas 1st round pick to Chicago; Bulls send Derrick Jones to Dallas

Portland sends Nance to Chicago; Chicago sends Portland's 1st back home

*******************************************

OR:

CJ to New Orleans for Hart + Valuciunas + 2nd (or a 1st if Pels are feeling generous)

Nurkic to Toronto for Boucher + Achiwa + 1st + 2nd (or two)

***********************************************

still trying to salvage a silver lining out of the mess olshey created before Cronin made it worse

I suggested largely that same CJ to Dal trade with the same 3 guys coming back to Portland (part A), but I’m not familiar enough with the Dallas roster to know if that’s something they would find acceptable or one or two of those 3 players are super coveted by them for some reason.

I do know they really highly value Finley smith, so that part B is probably a hard pass from Dallas.

FWIW Keon is reportedly injured and will be out for at least a week. Not saying he's good enough at the moment to get meaningful playing time - just repeating what I read on twitter.

The Knicks are reportedly interested in CJ:

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/cj-mccollum-trade-deadline-rumors-knicks-emerge-as-legitimate-suitor-for-veteran-blazers-guard-per-report/

CJ for Randle and Noel? Not gonna pretend I can get into the mind of Cronin that he would do that or anything, but apparently, the Knicks are willing to trade Randle this year and he would balance out the roster a bit more... He would be the best PF the Blazers have had since LA (low-bar). Maybe the Blazers could squeeze a pick out of the Knicks too, they have 2 FRPs... depends how much they've soured on Randle I guess?

Hi guys, quick question. Like you guys have probably seen already, the news today have the Knicks seemingly being aggressive and legitimate suitors for CJ. To be honest, while CJ is certainly a good player and very much proven commodity in this league, I am really surprised the Knicks would want to trade for him (and his remaining 70mill.) while likely not being a playoff team this season. CJ makes sense for a low playoff seed trying to increase their chances but not for a 12th seed with minimal chances at the playoffs.

I personally have no clue what the Knicks would be giving up, but I fear it is one or two of the young players (likely IQ at least) and a FRP + shorter contracts. If you put a gun to my head I'd think they are offering two shorter contracts (Kemba, Burks, Noel all have only one more year remaining) + a young asset (IQ? Obi?) + a FRP. I personally would be against such a trade because I don't see CJ making us that much better and I much rather would go the tank + high draft pick route and rebuild through the draft.

The other possibility is a deal centered around Randle and CJ. I don't know if that is feasable but would the Blazers , at this point in time be looking to add someone that just signed a 4year/117mill. deal while shooting at career worst numbers? Of course, playing next to Dame his % would likely increase back to his career averages of 48% and 34% from 3 but it'd still be somewhat of a risk.

One remaining question concerning CJ: Can the guy legitimately play PG or are his PG skills rather weak? And how would you rate CJ's defense? I ask because Grimes has been playing pretty good for us (two way player knocking down 40% 3s) and RJ is emerging. Getting CJ would literally stunt Grimes' opportunities + limit RJ as well I believe. The only way it would make sense is if CJ could possibly and legitimately play like 20 minutes at PG and initiate an offense in a legitimate way.....

A New York trade for CJ has a couple directions to go:

1. Randle + filler to get a PF to balance the roster
2. Youth and a shooter — Toppin, Barrett, and Fournier (or Burks and Noel instead of Fournier)

Picks and swaps aside, I can see some logic in going either direction for both teams.
Most importantly … #freeCJ
