IMO the way it's being talked about is backwards -- this is a DDV for Williams trade from the Bucks end. Schroeder is a convenient salary. I don't think either team has particularly strong interest in Schroeder, and the Celtics aren't interested in moving Williams, which is why this isn't going to happen.

Since the notorious front office leaks they have been pretty tight lipped. I also don't think leaking a trade you proposed getting shot down is wise. Boston always seems to play these games.

Does Taj Gibson have anything left? I’d kick the tires around DDV/Semi for Gibson/McBride.

I think this is correct.

Williams is much more of a need than Schroder. The only thing Schroder has that the Bucks, except for Jrue, are lacking, is a guard that can break down defenses and get to the basket. That does have value, but the Bucks problem now (it seems to change every few weeks) is their defense. I don't think Horst/Bud want to have an offensive guard at the expense of defense.

As to Williams, he does provide effort. Not sure about his defense, but his offense is very efficient.

Bamba has no motor and his offense is mediocre. He doesn't fit the Bucks MO for bigs.

Rob Williams is intriguing but Grant Williams idgaf about, Schroder I would probably just rather not have period. Better trade partners out there.

Why tho? We don’t need that player you’re looking for because with Bamba, we have that guy who’s a consistent motor and a greater talent already. Moving Bobby to the bench in favor of a more “Brook-esque” center allows us that flexibility. If we can get consistent 15-20mpg from Bamba, that’s all we need and I’m 100% positive that a young guy like Bamba getting out of the basement and onto a contender is the motivation he needs to become more consistently reliable. DDV and Nwora would already be in Orlando if it were up to me..

We need rim protection, someone that can defend bigs so Giannis doesn’t have to, not enough chuckers from deep or tweeners has never been the problem.

Man, what happened to Schroder?

I watched him in the playoffs two years ago and he was an animal. Loved his game. This is not the same guy. Was it the Chris Paul effect? He just looks so tentative and is anti-Donte in his court presence. Seems to shrink when the rebounds get near him.

Donte seems way more valuable at the present time. The only thing that makes sense to me is that Bud feels like he can, with the help of Giannis's gravity, unlock Schroder and that combined with his athleticism could make him a valuable playoff rotation player.

Agree. With Bamba the talent and need are there. I'm sure playing on this team where the generational superstar has one of the highest motors in the league will help elevate his own.

Equally important, it gives you Bird rights to a center, in case Lopez doesn't come back next year or Bobby gets a massive offer we can't or don't match.

The Bucks have critical information we do not:

1. What are realistic expectations for Brook this season and next?

2. How high is the confidence Portis is coming back?

3. Would the Bucks be willing to pay market rate (or just the QO) to keep Bamba?

4. What options are we likely to have available come buyout season?

5. Is Monroe more than a 10-day contract guy?

Thibs loves him some Taj Gibson (idk much about McBride).

But maybe that doesn't matter?

Word around the league is when Knicks president Leon Rose moved to strike a deal with Atlanta on Jan. 15, the head coach wasn’t all-in on the move.

“From my understanding, Thibs didn’t want him and they did it anyway,’’ said an NBA source who has been in contact with Knicks brass.

Hope they keep the asking price for White Donte too high to pull the trigger. He's going to be an xfactor in the playoffs.

Also hoping they don't trade Nwora either. He's looking stronger & playing with poise.

Yeah, I could see Donte providing more to us in helping win another championship than what we get back in a trade for him. I could also see a scenario where he is a guy that gets hot in the playoffs and his value is way up from where it is now. Worse case, he stays cold but he still does all the other little things that still make him a winning player.

Not all that interested in Schroder, but could totally get behind a Williams/Nesmith or Langford package, preferably Nesmith.

I think that's a possibility but I'd put it way below 100%, below 50% even. Asking a leopard to change his spots.

For 10-15 minutes playing the drop? I could certainly see him being effective. I could also see him being indecisive and not engaged enough, and bombing terribly.

The risk/reward is a fairly positive ratio, the dude's upside is very high. Besides I'm sure he would be totally fine playing 15-20 minutes a night, grabbing some rebounds, roughing up some bigs and making it difficult for G's to score at the rim (and eating up fouls that Freak/Bobby may get). Not like he would be in the closing lineup anyway. Worst case scenario he's just another big body with relatively minimal impact. Could he be a negative? No idea honestly, but theoretically every trade could be.

Over the weekend, Boston offered Schröder to Milwaukee for Donte DiVincenzo, which the Bucks countered asking for Grant Williams, sources with knowledge of the discussions told The Athletic. Though sources said the Celtics balked at the offer, the teams continue to explore frameworks that include Williams.

Considering Williams is younger, healthier and playing better than DiVincenzo, it would be difficult to find a deal that makes sense. Williams has become the team’s key reserve big this season, becoming one of the league’s top corner shooters and making notable strides as a defender in Udoka’s switching defensive scheme. Boston could seek to include Romeo Langford or Aaron Nesmith, whose trade value has been akin to a moderate sweetener around the core piece of the deal. Bringing in a young wing who has proven he can be an impact rotation player when healthy makes giving up on a former lottery pick much more palatable, though DiVincenzo is hitting restricted free agency this summer.
