Bogdan is an upgrade over who exactly in the starting lineup?

Everyone on the bench.

I don't want Barnes coming off the bench. He deserves to be a full time starter. But so do the other 4 guys that currently round out our starting lineup. Maybe Turner should come off the bench? What do y'all think?

Personally I think it's matchup dependent. If we're playing a team with a big like Embiid, Jokic, etc. then Turner should start. Otherwise, we roll out the FVV/Trent/OG/Siakam/Barnes lineup.
If you want to go far in playoffs you need to have a real C in current lineup. Turner should come in starting lineup and Barnes should move to bench. It is good for team. Barnes will be a nightmare for opposing bench.

I agree. You want Turner starting to set the tone defensively with some serious rim protection. Barnes off the bench provides a lot of options depending on the matchups. You can go really big if he subs for GTJ. You can keep playing a similar style if he goes in for OG. If you sub him for Pascal then you run more P&R with Turner. A lot of options.

When is Turner even expected to play again?

Idk why this is so hard for some people to comprehend especially when we literally went through the same thing when we had Gasol and Ibaka just a couple of years ago lol

I can imagine a tough rugged rebounding series vs the Cavs where we'd have to go super big taking out GTJ for Turner like we did vs the Sixers in 2019.

The raptors not trading dragic is the biggest L

You can't use that 19 million to sign anyone. you'll be over the cap even w/o the 19 million. Horrible decision by MU imo

Turner ranks in the 90th percentile in post ups. Granted it's not a ton of volume, but we've seen the Raps go into the post quite a bit when they run the floor and wind up with a mismatch, so Turner could be another weapon there.

This rumor from Mike Scotto is pretty relevant to me. One, Thad Young going to Phoenix makes a ton of sense and has been an open secret for some time now. I think the compensation is what may impact Toronto. Imagine that Dario Saric, Jalen Smith plus a prospect or pick goes back.

If the Spurs acquire another PF/C their frontcourt is stacked:

Jakob Poeltl
Zach Collins
Juancho Hermangomez
Jock Landale
Drew Eubanks
Jalen Smith
Dario Saric (PF/SF)

I think Toronto has to pounce on a Poeltl/McDermott or Zach Collins/McDermott for Dragic deal. Poeltl is the ideal guy because of his defense and passing skill, but I wouldn't be surprised about Collins. I noticed Toronto was looking at him as a free agent last offseason, and now that he is healthy again, he might be an interesting stretch big to add. Health not talent has always been his issue.

It didn't last long, and it was for a title. Gasol basically left the NBA the second he was benched with the Lakers. He had a huge ego about starting, and then Serge didn't re-sign here in part because he wanted Gasol gone and the Raptors wanted them both back. Asking Turner to come off the bench is a bad idea, and then asking Trent to come off the bench is a worse idea, given how he's thriving in the role he's been given, and then asking Barnes to come off the bench is probably not the direction the Raptors should consider going.

The time to go for Turner is next year, when he's heading into his UFA season. The Raptors will have more information on their starting 5, Achiuwa and Barnes. I'd be surprised if there's actual legs to this rumour.

Can't defend or be a playmaker, nor is he a big. Don't get why we'd acquire him either.

For one, while no Bogi is not known as a defender, he's nowhere near as bad as some seem to try to be making him out to be and yes actually he is a playmaker. He's an average defender (114 defrtg actually above Norman Powell - 119 *ahem*) and would not cause the whole damn thing to come apart lol.

He would also provide a MUCH needed scoring punch to our absolutely useless bench, so that we could occasionally give both Fred & Gary (who has struggled with minor injuries multiple times already since we got him) a breather which would likely keep both of them healthier throughout the season.

Bogi is the PERFECT player to get. More so than Turner

More than a slight concern IMO. Turner’s stress reaction is in his foot, which has the potential to be a lot worse if it becomes a fracture than if the injury was in the back or lower leg. Really depends on which bone is involved though. Trust in McKechnie.

Unless you have a link to any interviews of these guys saying any of that, this is all speculation on your part. Gasol left the Lakers because he was/is washed and no place in the NBA anymore. Ibaka was offered a 1 year deal by us but turned it down to get a 2 year deal and chance to go for another title in LAC with Kawhi/PG. Meanwhile we were clearly looking to re-tool as we have and are doing.

Some of you guys will say anything to TRY and kill the ideas of trades you don't personally like.

We don't need a good defensive centre. We need a bench centre maybe. And every player has to be able to defend or the one weak link ruins it all.

The raptors are not trading for no defense players and when ever have they?

Who would defend Embiid, Vuc, Bam in the playoffs. Teams have abused our paint because of this issue and in the playoffs its matchup driven. We definitely need a defensive big on the bench for those situations where baby boucher would get abused.

Why in the world would this team's goal to be to move Barnes to the bench. I mean, turner is the exception, the one guy that maybe, just maybe they actually are after Who defended them in the games we beat them? OG and Barnes. There are two sides of the floor and Vuc is a liability against a small line-up. Bam is no bigger than Previous. Embiid... who the hell do you think you are going to get to defned Embiid and shut him down? There's nobody.

and they aren't trading for Tuner to come off the bench and have Achiuwa behind him. That's ridiculous.

But the Raptors’ first offer – about $12 million for the 2020-21 season – was below what he was expecting and while Toronto came up to $14 million, they were still trying to keep some powder dry to pursue Gasol. That didn’t go over well with Ibaka who, according to multiple sources, resented having to play behind the Spanish international and wasn’t going to sign on for a shared role again. Ibaka quickly pivoted to the Los Angeles Clippers and their two-year deal for $19 million.

The situation, by the end of the season, was toxic enough that multiple people with the Lakers felt like Gasol was undoubtedly on his way out following end-of-season meetings.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/newsletter/2021-09-16/newsletter-lakers-move-on-without-marc-gasol-lakers

You need firsthand quotes? Multiple sources is good enough for reputable writers. It's absurd to think that a guy that's currently unhappy in his minimized role would accept a bench spot, even a platoon situation, for very long, before his 3rd contract is up. That's writing on the wall.

It'll make the Nets precipitously worse. And although Sixers get better Harden now deals with a chronic hamstring injury.
