Currently, nine of the top 10 teams in offensive rating are also top 10 in true shooting percentage. Celtics are 19th in ORtg and 16th in TS%.

10th in TS% in NBA = 57.0%
Jays TS% = 55.373%
Not Jays TS% = 56.257%

Shoot better, you guys. Except the Williams brothers and maybe JRich. Those three are doing really well.

We have 6-7 clear keepers on the roster.

The definite 6 are the Jays, the Williamses, Smart, and Richardson.

The questionable 7th is Al, who is a great fit, but aging and overpaid.

Smart is top 5 in steals per game, top 10 in deflections and loose balls recovered.
Timelord is top 5 in blocks per game, top 10 in loose balls recovered, 11th in contested shots
Horford is top 10 in contested shots

Hard to find a better defensive trio to surround your two stars with.

Brad and co. need to find Timelord the Evan Mobley to his Jarrett Allen.

I think we're tied for the longest string of years making the playoffs with, of all teams, Portland.

And they're tanking.

At 30-25, looking at the remaining 27 games:

Realize that there may be a major trade re-aligning the core 8. But if that group stays healthy, this team could win more than 45 games. They have a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way. The biggest problem this team has is the depth behind their core 8. Don't have a 4th wing that can reliably score, don't have a 4th big to step in (if Tatum moves to PF the wing issues are magnified). But if the core 8 can play together most of the remaining games, they should do way better than 0.500 and win over 45 games.

Core 8:
Frontcourt: Rob Williams III, Al Horford, Grant Williams

Wings: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Josh Richardson

PG: Marcus Smart & Dennis Schroder

If any of Pritchard, Langford or Nesmith ever consistently step up that will give them the latitude to miss or rest a rotation player.

I know, based on my family connections to Turkey, that admitting the Armenian genocide is a big, big deal. Turks who are otherwise very sane, decent and clueful commonly deny it.

We now have the highest net rating in the conference.

A few teams are higher yet in the West.

W-L record against the top 8 teams in the league
• MIA 9-6
• MIL 6-5
• CHI 2-12
• CLE 6-9
• PHI 6-7
• TOR 9-9
• BOS 9-8

So in East's top 7, only Miami has a better record against the current top 8 teams. And IINM, only the Raptors have an easier remaining schedule than the Cs among the teams above us in the East.

Oh yeah while Kanter has made a lot of questionable choices this season, admitting to the Armenian genocide is very anomalous for any Turk, never mind those in the public eye. Good post for acknowledging that.

Next 3 game; nuggets, hawks and philly are against the 10th,3rd and 11th offense. Curious to see how the Celtics defense holds up. Philly also 9th in defensive ranking so very interesting matchup here.

Hawks near or among top 10 defense too past 2 weeks or since they got most of their guys back and traded Reddish. Plus they beat us soundly last time with both teams healthy.

If we win the next 3, it’ll be real real hard for me not to get too excited lol. :D

We all are in agreement that the assets that can be moved are
Romeo
Nesmith
Pritchard
Kanter
Bruno
BolBol
Dozier

The targets are
Backup pg or sg
Backup sf
Backup C

Ideally we keep at least 2 of the 4 young guys out of Pritchard, Romeo, Nesmith, BolBol, Bruno to give a shot at development ( tops 2 guys because remember, we also have Hauser, Yam, Begarin)

The teams who could/should be interested in the young guys are teams that are outside the playoffs and will remain outside the playoffs.
Wizards
Knicks
Pacers
Magic
Pistons
Rockets
Thunder
Portland
Spurs

Teams that are in the "have to go for it" mode should be interested in Kanter and Schroder

And teams well over the cap should be interested in Dozier as they get his bird rights

Schroder and Romeo to NYK for Burks and either Charlotte or Dallas first

Romeo, Dozier and Bol to Indiana for McConnell

Romeo and Bol to Orlando for Okeke

Romeo and Dozier to Detroit for Corey Joseph and a second

Romeo, BolBol and Boston 1st to OKC for Muscala and Ty Jerome (I like this one, fills needs)

Schroder, Bol, Dozier to Portland for Josh Hart (adds 2 million in salary, may need to add a 2nd) leaves 13 players on roster so need to convert Hausers contract. Team will be in tax as I cannot see how to get out of it.

Bruno Fernando and a second to the spurs for Tre Jones

So the sample is now very large for the starters, and this is their net rating on the season, and our net rating when they sit.

Tatum +8.8/-3.7/+12.5 on/off
Rob +8.8/+0.9/+7.9 on/off
Smart +8.4/-0.6/ +9.0 on/off
Jaylen +8.2/+0.6/ +7.6 on/off
Horford +4.7/+3.8/ +0.9 on/off

Dominant, and that Tatum on/off is crazy, next closest is 3.5 behind.

three team trade, gets under the tax, improves 8-10 on roster

Schroder to Milwaukee

Langford, Dozier, Bruno, Nwaba(fr. Bukcs) to OKC ALONG with boston's 1st rounder

Muscala, Ty Jerome and George Hill to Boston

Smart/Hill
Brown/Jerome
Tatum/Richardson
Horford/Grant
Timelord/Muscala

Have as deep bench:
Pritchard
Nesmith
Kanter

2 way contracts of
Hauser
Thomas

Trade would leave Boston about about 2.5 million under the tax to either convert Hauser to a full contract, or snag someone else for free out there (just convert Hauser, IMO)
