You can't use that 19 million to sign anyone. you'll be over the cap even w/o the 19 million. Horrible decision by MU imo

The deadline is on the 10th.

I don't want Barnes coming off the bench. He deserves to be a full time starter. But so do the other 4 guys that currently round out our starting lineup. Maybe Turner should come off the bench? What do y'all think?

Personally I think it's matchup dependent. If we're playing a team with a big like Embiid, Jokic, etc. then Turner should start. Otherwise, we roll out the FVV/Trent/OG/Siakam/Barnes lineup.

FVV/Siakam
Trent/FVV
Anunoby/Barnes
Siakam/Boucher
Turner/Achiuwa

Siakam 37
FVV 35
Trent 33
Anunoby 33
Barnes 32
Turner 30
Boucher 20
Achiuwa 20

If you could flip Birch and Flynn for a backup guard, it would be optimal.

My concerns with Barnes go beyond the impact it has on this years team. Getting Turner would make us a dangerous team but it's not worth it if Barnes becomes Mr. higher ambitions in a year or 2 and force his way to the Heat. The same way you can't bring Gary off the bench and hope to extend him.

Toronto needs to check those boxes and make sure before making a Turner type trade.

Basketball wise speaking, this would be a team nobody would want to play against and a top 4 team.

Idk why this is so hard for some people to comprehend especially when we literally went through the same thing when we had Gasol and Ibaka just a couple of years ago lol

It didn't last long, and it was for a title. Gasol basically left the NBA the second he was benched with the Lakers. He had a huge ego about starting, and then Serge didn't re-sign here in part because he wanted Gasol gone and the Raptors wanted them both back. Asking Turner to come off the bench is a bad idea, and then asking Trent to come off the bench is a worse idea, given how he's thriving in the role he's been given, and then asking Barnes to come off the bench is probably not the direction the Raptors should consider going.

The time to go for Turner is next year, when he's heading into his UFA season. The Raptors will have more information on their starting 5, Achiuwa and Barnes. I'd be surprised if there's actual legs to this rumour.

Where did you hear this? How come I have never heard any of this stuff?

Do you really believe in that? Gasol is a veteran who knew exactly what kind of player he was which is why he was fine playing 25mpg in Toronto while taking a significantly lesser role than in Memphis. Ibaka was also getting plenty of playing time while having a career year in 2019-20.

Yeah I didn't think so either. But just wanted to make sure he didn't imply that Dragic isn't getting traded either

What did I miss? Did MU say they weren't gonna trade him? You sound like he's made up his mind and has announced it already. There are 2 days to go til the deadline.

Is Daryl Morey that internal reliable source? Seriously, how is that guy not facing any tampering charges with his shameful public recruitment of Harden

that's right, his defense is too limited.

Are we talking about same Nurkic who is among top NBA players defensively? His defensive rating is better than any current player on Raptors.

DRTG is tough. It focuses too much on counting stats and can be skewed incorrectly.
The formula is: Defensive Player Rating = (Players Steals*Blocks) + Opponents Differential= 1/5 of possessions - Times blown by + Deflections * OAPDW( Official Adjusted Players Defensive Withstand).

Nurkic's differential is +0.9% meaning opponents shoot better against him. Harden is 0.3%. GTJ is a surprising +8.9%! FVV is 1.2%
Examples: Gobert -5.4%, Mobley -4.8%, OG -2.2%, Siakam -1.2.%, Barnes -0.4%.

Defensive stats are hard to quantify because so much of it is not countable. Good positioning that leads to players giving up the ball isn't really counted anywhere, nor are stats that show a player was so well defended he couldn't even GET the ball. But those are some of the most important aspects of defense, as opposed to counted stats like steals, or stats like opponent differential which can be biased based on how that offensive player is playing that day.

Going by DRTG alone, you'd be forced to say that Harden at 110 is a better defender than OG at 111, Fred at 111, and as good as Siakam at 110. Boucher at 107 is our best defender.

Steph Curry has a 100.9 DRTG. Draymond has a 101.5. You'd be trying to convince me that Steph is a better defender than Draymond. LOL. Kevin Love at 103.2 is better than Gobert at 103.8. Like...these ratings don't really work much of the time.

Everything checks out so let's see if we can actually make a deal. This will be our only chance to add a piece above the MLE without trading our core 5.

We have zero flexibility in the off-season to add any pieces.

If we wanna add any surrounding pieces to this core...trading Dragic is the way to go.

Portland giving away their players for peanuts.....Nurkic is probably going to walk away from them in the off-season...might be able to snag him for cheap

Unlikely to include first round pick.

Most likely get a bench guard or wing back for Dragic on Thursday.

Everyone is looking at a big but I think the offensive matchups we create with Scottie at the 5 is what Nurse loves the most.

We need a scoring guard first to help out FVV.

Anfenee Simmons would have been perfect.
