Maybe the Hornets can get Holmes now like they should have done in the offseason

lol wtf Kings..

trading away the best asset to lock up players with no future growth.

what is the point of developing youngs assets if all you do is to trade them for old vets?

I don't think anyone won this honestly. I like Haliburton but that's really all it took to get Sabonis? And Kings are just giving up on Haliburton that quickly? Crazy. I think Indy could have gotten more and I think Sacramento is dumb for picking Fox over Haliburton

I always laugh at the "Haliburton and Fox are redundant" comments when one is actually good and one sucks and makes 30M.

Getting Sabonis and Jrue Holiday for basically Haliburton and Hield is a pretty good trade.

[Edit: Oh it's Justin Holiday you say... well... ummm... errr... Nevermind. At least the Kings got rid of Stauskas.]

Sacramento made the right call. Sabonis seems like the better player, and they get Lamb and Holiday with a 1st rounder. They did well.

Haliburton is the absolute prototype of what the Kings should be building around. Young, versatile guard who has a lot of talent and is a really easy guy to fit pieces around. Instead, they move him away to bolster their aspirations of being swept in the first round.

It's a home run of a deal for the Pacers. They get their point guard of the future, a guy they can probably buy out in Thompson and a flippable piece in Hield, who'll have no shortage of potential suitors who they can go and get some more draft capital with.

Sabonis is much better than Haliburton right now. You are banking on Haliburton's potential to be as good as Sabonis who is an Allstar caliber player.

tbf, pacers aren't trying to get better. Their goal is to rebuild and they just got a promising young player in just this second season. Plus they can flip Buddy Hield to a contender if possible.

Sure but its not like Sabonis is old, Haliburton turns 22 in a couple weeks.

I think Sabonis is kind of getting disrespected in this thread. Again I just dont see either team really improving with this trade. It would make more sense if Sabonis was like 31 and the Pacers were doing this. But out of all the main players for Indy (Sabonis, Turner, Brogdon), Sabonis was the youngest one.

I feel like this was both the Pacers and Kings feeling like they kind of had a log jam at a position (Kings with their guards and Pacers with their bigs), so they decided to trade with each other. I just dont see this really moving the needle for either team.

Well, pacers are going on full tank and get younger, dont know if carlisle fit that plan.

Kings keep trying to do something more than 11-13 Seed. Sabonis is legit.

There is way too much attachment to young players these days. Guy scores more than 10 points in a game and guys are calling him untouchable. It's a bit ridiculous. Sabonis is the best player in this trade and is likely to remain that way going forward.

Yes he's a very good player, but what is he going to do for Sacramento? Make them good enough to be a high-lottery team? What's their plan here?

What's the plan currently? They've been awful and have money commited to Fox. Hali was always going to be the only outlet of getting someone good on their team.

Hawks need to make a move for Brogdon in the summer. He's probably the best compliment to Trae that's attainable.

Its also the fact that Sabonis isnt good enough to move the needle for the Kings, they arent good enough to compete in the West with just this move alone.

Secondly, Haliburton is on a very favourable contract in his what 2nd year in the league.

So why trade Sabonis then? Out of Sabonis, Turner, and Brogdon. Sabonis was the youngest one out of that group. If they were trying to get younger, Brogdon would be the guy they were looking to move. It just seems weird if the main reason for the trade is to get younger, while trading the youngest guy in your core who is 25 for a guy that is about to be 22.

Sabonis is a really good player. I hope that's not getting lost in this thread. Also he's a 25 year old big who doesn't rely on athleticism so he should age gracefully, unless there is some injury concern I don't see.

I'm not saying Indiana won the trade.
NBA Playoffs.... I can never wait!
