There is way too much attachment to young players these days. Guy scores more than 10 points in a game and guys are calling him untouchable. It's a bit ridiculous. Sabonis is the best player in this trade and is likely to remain that way going forward.

Yes he's a very good player, but what is he going to do for Sacramento? Make them good enough to be a high-lottery team? What's their plan here?

What's the plan currently? They've been awful and have money commited to Fox. Hali was always going to be the only outlet of getting someone good on their team.

Well they could have held onto their young promising player and greatest asset. There's only two trades you make if you have to deal Hali: one that will firmly put you in the playoffs, or one that will help the rebuild better than Haliburton can. This trade absolutely does neither of those things.

I'm surprised so many see this as such a huge loss for the Kings. They're going nowhere and Sabonis is a bonafide all-star. They need a culture change. No telling if Sabonis gives him that, but they needed to get rid of all the ill-feelings that have festered in guys like Buddy Hield for years. They got the best player in the deal and got some good vets as well. I like it for them.

The Pacers are definitely a winner in this. They gave up a disgruntled player, albeit a really good one, for a young core player who still has growth potential. I figured that they would maybe get two late 1sts at best from a contender. This is much better.

The Kings? Not sure what direction they're taking, as usual with that franchise. Not calling it a loss for the Kings, just a little confused about the endgame with this trade.

More to do with the team he was traded to than anything else imo. Seems like a Kings trying to make a playoff push type move when everyone thought Sabonis would go to a team in a better position.

Also the team fit will be kind of odd unless the Kings soon move off of Holmes. Kings need some elite shooting or everyone should pack the paint and force them to shoot

I also assume Bagley gets moved by the deadline as well after this.

Well, pacers are going on full tank and get younger, dont know if carlisle fit that plan.

Kings keep trying to do something more than 11-13 Seed. Sabonis is legit.

So why trade Sabonis then? Out of Sabonis, Turner, and Brogdon. Sabonis was the youngest one out of that group. If they were trying to get younger, Brogdon would be the guy they were looking to move. It just seems weird if the main reason for the trade is to get younger, while trading the youngest guy in your core who is 25 for a guy that is about to be 22.

They for sure Will TRADE both for a proper offer.

Turner btw is 25 too so they can keep.him in the rebuild.

It's a great rebuilding move for Indiana! This team was going nowhere, so they decided to part ways with LeVert and Sabonis and pick up a first-round pick and a great young prospect in the process. It helps them bottom out even more this year and sets them up well for the future. They have a decision to make regarding Turner but both keeping and moving him are solid options now that Sabonis is gone. I really like this for a Pacers team that felt like it needed a reset and make some moves. Now they should probably be looking to move Brogdon for an asset (young player or pick) and they can be excited for the future – and even field a solid team as early as next season if they want that.

I don't like it for the Kings. Yes, Sabonis is currently better than Haliburton and it's not as bad value-wise as this thread may indicate. But Haliburton is a young player with a lot of potential who genuinely seemed to want to be with the Kings and was liked by the fans. You've increased your short-term playoff chances and Sabonis is young enough to be a good player for years to come – but that team is still far away from being a contender, and I believe they should have waited longer to see what becomes of Haliburton instead of locking themselves into a team that looks like a low-level playoff team over the next couple years.

Is it fair to say this is a bad trade for both teams? I honestly think is makes no sense from either team perspective. Both franchises going nowhere

The kings said Haliburton was untouchable for Simmons. I would honestly rather have Simmons than Sabonis.

As if Simmons is a better player than Sabonis...

I guess the Hield (bad value) for Holiday/2nd (good value) part of the deal tells us that Kings knew they are trading the best asset in the deal.

I know Turner wants out (or just a larger role) but never read anything about Sabonis
