Neither team won. Both should be getting picks and rebuilding. Sacramento trading Halliburton is typical Sacramento.

Who knows what's really true but there were multiple reports that Sabonis wanted a change of scenery. It was well documented.

If that was their logic, then they are insane. It would be like my Raptors trading Pascal Siakam because we have Precious Achiuwa.

Of course, they may very well be insane.

Haliburton may have become a little overrated relative to what he has done so far, but he is still a very good young player. There are situations where giving up a young player to get a better, proven player makes sense. I don't think this is one of them. The Kings should be continuing to draft and collect assets at this stage, not trading away one of their best young players.

This guarantees that there is a Simmons/Harden deal that is done. Hard to imagine that SAC preferred Sabonis over Simmons.

Do the Kings like Sabonis so much they were willing to give up Haliburton?
RIP to Sabonis's career for the next 3 years

what is the point of developing youngs assets if all you do is to trade them for old vets?

You do know that Sabonis is 25 years old and has been improving every year, right?

We already knew that tho. They had a trade in place for Kuzma/Harrell

They got the best player in the deal and got some good vets as well. I like it for them.

They did not get the best player in this deal....and looking at the results of this poll - and Kings Reddit - the majority of people don't agree with you, either.

There is way too much attachment to young players these days. Guy scores more than 10 points in a game and guys are calling him untouchable. It's a bit ridiculous. Sabonis is the best player in this trade and is likely to remain that way going forward.

The kings said Haliburton was untouchable for Simmons. I would honestly rather have Simmons than Sabonis.

We don't know what else Kings would have to give up to get Simmons. Also, Sabonis is at least going to give you his best, and has been improving every year. Simmons is still the same player he was when he came to the league (a great player nonetheless), and a huge diva.

Well my claim wasn't that I think most people agree with me, so that's a weird reply. But your claim that Sabonis isn't the best player in the deal (as of today and likely the immediate future) is asinine.

Haliburton over the last month and a half (24 games) has averaged 17/4/9 on 47/43/87 shooting. He's 21 years old. Just dumbfounded at this trade for the Kings.

This is a good trade for both teams. Sabonis is unquestionably the best player involved in this deal, and is only 25.

Indiana is resetting, and the Kings obviously believe that pairing Fox with a legit all-star bigman is what they wanted. Now they've got it. I imagine another move is in the works for Sacramento, and Grant would fit very nicely there.

Man Hali is under team control for a while. What's Sabonis got? 2 years left after this year?
