Makes the fact that we were all up in arms over the 4th quarter officiating last night a bit more compelling. Crazy - absolutely crazy - that Philly & Rap fans are also near the bottom of the list. Who knows how they come at this data though - if it's purely a volume of tweets thing, etc.

lol all this tells us is we still have a smaller than average fan base... it's on volume rather than per person......

The fact that they didn't even think to do that completely invalidates the entire thing

Yeah, a total volume methodology seems 100% flawed, but the Raps (and others) stand out as odd anomalies. Assuming the chart is really just a reflection of total fanbase, but the Raps draw from an entire country and have vocal fans. Who knows. Definitely some weirdness afoot - Jazz fans outnumber Celtics fans, etc.

How's the defensive numbers though?

Cool if we are scoring 20 points, but if we are giving up 25 it's counterintuitive.

I assumed the net was net rating, meaning +13 per 100. Could be some sort of on/off number I suppose, but I bet it's net rating meaning we're significantly outscoring our opponents.

You nailed it man. Its literally stating that we score 13.3 points more than our opponents per 100. I'm just going to post this definition for clarity:
An NBA team's Net Rating is simply the number of points per 100 possessions that they score (called Offensive Rating) minus the number of points per possessions that their opponents score (called Defensive Rating). A team's Net Rating is essentially a one number summary of how well they have played

I could be wrong but Im pretty certain that means Miles is the best center we've had in YEARS. I think he even outpaces our lineups that featured Big Al.

Has there ever been a team with the highest scoring offense + highest PPG allowed? At the same time?

We might do it this season.

Currently averaging 116 PPG, best in the league by 2 points.
Giving up 116PPG, worst in the league by 3 points.

If we can play respectable defense, we'd have a top 4 seed. But being on opposite extremes will probably put us around .500 for the season. As we are now.

1980-81 Nuggets
1981-82 Nuggets
1982-83 Nuggets
1983-84 Nuggets

1990-91 Nuggets (scored 119.9, gave up 130.8)

There may be others but the Nuggets are what came to mind.

Fun fact- every season between those, Fat Lever was in Denver and they never achieved that with him there, though they came close.

--

EDIT: also the 2004-05 Suns.

Unsurprisingly all these teams led the league in pace. We are 3rd in pace.

Alex English
Dan Issel
David Thompson washed up version
Kiki Vanderwegh -> traded for Fat Lever
TR Dunn
Bill Hanzlik

We play very similar, except the drastic increase in 3s.

We have 5 dudes averaging 16+ this year:
KO - 16.6
TRo- 17.6
Gordo - 18.4
MilesO (sorry) - 19.8
Melo - 20.0

Wonder if this makes Kelly the highest scoring 5th option ever

That’s such awesome balance.

Love it.

Another way you can tell things have changed a lot since Cliff was around, this was their other trivia post:

TRIVIA TIME! How many games this season has someone on the Hornets benched YELLED "Dig!! Dig!!"?

The correct answer is 0! Your Hornets don't have anyone yelling "dig" any more and have sucked on defence in 38 consecutive games dating back to last season, which is the 2nd-longest streak in NBA history.

We have the exact same ORTG and DRTG as ATL, but we're 22-19 and they are 17-22.

Make of that what you will.

That's just a slump they will all come out of. I'm much more concerned about our abysmally pathetic efforts on defense that have been a consistent theme for most of the year.
