Welp. So much for that. In any event, he was awesome last year. Made more shots but was also quite focused on defense. That guy was great.

Yep, suspense on CJ to NY didn’t last long haha.

I'm just annoyed because I'll be at Moda on Saturday. No Dame. No CJ. The Knicks suck again  I was thinking this ticket was gonna be a banger at the beginning of the season

Randle got you so down bad you’ve resorted to quoting yourself. Damn Cap!

CJ and his functioning lung is off the table. It's Westbrick or bust to get this anal polyp off our team.

Katz:

https://theathletic.com/3117808/2022/02/08/knicks-nba-trade-deadline-primer-are-kemba-walker-and-evan-fournier-most-likely-to-go/

Randle’s value

Randle, whose four-year extension kicks in next season, insists he is committed to the Knicks. The team may reciprocate the sentiment, if only because they have no other choice.

The reality is, other front offices see what has happened this season, and they are not inundating the Knicks with calls about their top player. Randle’s jump shot has regressed; his efficiency has cratered; his defense and energy have been problematic; and he’s fallen off a season after winning the NBA Most Improved Player and making second-team All-NBA.

The four-year, $117 million extension is not as detrimental as it looks at first glance. For example, his $26.1 million salary next season is only the NBA’s 48th-largest one for 2022-23 — and it will drop a little lower on the list after a few big-time free agents sign expensive, new contracts this summer.

Yet, Randle has fallen off so dramatically this season that the extension is intimidating to other teams. And it’s not so much the dollars as it is the years. The contract runs through 2026

“I don’t see anyone giving up anything of value for him,” one rival executive said. And it’s hard to imagine the Knicks dealing him without a decent return.

Trading Randle now would mean moving on at his lowest point, which is no way to do business. The Knicks would be better off trying to rebuild him. Even if he doesn’t improve at all, if this version of Randle is just the player he is for the rest of his career, the contract will eventually look better. Remember, each day that passes makes that deal one day shorter.

If I'm the Lakers and see this, I laugh and put Leon Rose on ignore. Knicks will need to add, at the very least, 2 unprotected first rounders to dump Randle and Fournier.

Knicks should also explore trading Mitch here as well since Lakers are thin at the 5. That'll get them to listen.

Knicks should've traded Mitch two seasons ago, because whatever the Knicks pay him is going to be overkill for what he has to offer. I like Mitch, but the timing is just wrong here for the Knicks to retain him.

Bingo.

He already got his money though. I'm not sure what else the Knicks can do here to give him more drive to become a better player for the team. He's making it pretty clear that he is not willing to work on himself, take criticism, or listen to the coaches.

In this analytic age, the league views him as a salary dump. He doesn't have to be fat or injured to be viewed as deadweight and useless. Randle knows this, and his reaction is to throw a tantrum like a high-schooler. No self-reflection whatsoever. Not top-dollar material. Knicks dug their own grave here tbh.

Dallas 2023 and both Pistons picks change Kemba's corpse for Reddish?

Randle, Fournier, Walker to LAL for Westbrook, filler, 2027 1st, 2nd rounder, pick swap.

They can get a 2nd title this year or next with Lebron. They should be going all in... Westbrook is only hurting their chances.

AD + Randle + Lebron + Fournier + a 3&D wing could get them to the promise land, if healthy.

If they are betting on a turnaround, my money is on Westbrook rather than Randle for the Lakers. Lakers are already Forward heavy. And Randle has nothing to offer them

And not sure why people are thinking they could get picks from the Lakers in this scenario. They are the ones giving the Knicks a favor by taking on Randle's awful contract.

Read on Twitter

Pacers also gave up a 2027 2nd.

Hield is slightly negative value, like Fournier.

But I think this indicates at least the Kings see Sabonis as positive value.

Imagine doing this with Randle. I be peeing my pants with joy.

Lakers seems to be eyeing 2023 when all of their contracts are off the books except for AD. Doubt they do this.

Except we’re the Kings East, not the Pacers. If we wanted to be normal like Indy we would have let Donnie do his thing in 2008.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Vlade becomes our next POBO.

Randle for Westbrook is a lateral move that could work for both teams. we postpone giving RJ the keys for a season, but at least we get out of Randle's contract.
