James Harden Wants To Be Traded To Philadelphiia; Won’t Formally Demand Trade Due To Public Backlash

Post#1 » by OrangeBlueSkies » Wed Feb 9, 2022 2:49 pm

Sources say Harden wants to be traded to the Sixers, where he would reunite with Morey and form an elite All-Star pairing with Joel Embiid.

A source said as of Wednesday afternoon, a deal isn’t as close to being finalized as people think. The Nets and Sixers engaged in informal trade discussions Tuesday and, according to sources, bickered over pieces to add to a potential deal. –

Sources have said it’s Harden or bust for the Sixers. At the root of that stance is Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey’s affinity for Harden from their time together with the Houston Rockets

Problem being that whatever else the sixers add, makes the nets too good for the sixers to beat.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Nets want Maxey or Curry and the Sixers don’t want to give either of them up. They’d rather just wait til the off-season to try and clear cap space and sign Harden. And I don’t blame them.

Can’t call Morey’s bluff here. He’s made it clear he’s willing to be patient and wait til the off-season, for better or worse. Nets can’t afford to just let Harden walk for nothing this Summer if that’s indeed the intel they’re getting from his camp. They have to pull the trigger here imo.

Simmons, Thybulle + Shake Milton and call it a day. Nets gonna lose Harden for nothing, so giddy-up.

If I'm Brooklyn, I obv want Simmons, Curry, Drummond, but would settle for Simmons, Thybulle, Drummond.

Bill Simmons said that Brooklyn wanted Seth Curry & Simmons as the main package for Harden. Could be that

Nets has to hand over Harden to Philly with Ben by deadline or get nothing in return by offseason.

I would think BKN wants a bit more TBH. they literally gave up Levert/Allen and an entire boatload of picks. It's crazy how CLE picked up both Allen and Levert. CLE looks like a genius franchise and again BKN looking puzzled.

Can't fall into the sunk cost fallacy though.

Gotta do what they can do for KD (and I guess that *** that came with him). If Harden says he's gone no matter what in the offseason then honestly Simmons straight up looks good.

76ers have the incentive to do this now to not waste Embiid's season but also I'm guessing they can talk to their owner if they get Harden now and win a ring about paying the luxury tax for one season to give it another go with a Harden/Harris/Embiid combo.

I agree, but wouldnt it be in BKN best interest to keep Harden and let their big 3 try to win it all this season atleast?

The Cavs getting Allen basically for nothing was just baffling and I don't think the Nets should feel as if they are trading that same package for a version of Harden that looks way worse than what he was traded for at the time. I also think people undervalue Simmons. I get he didn't want to shoot, but you still have a DPOY and a young guy with great eFG% at the rim, who just needs a change of scenery. Adding Simmons with Durant & Kyrie just seems like a great fit tbf.. Brooklyn is going nowhere at this moment and KD's only aging. No reason not to pull the trigger if your Brooklyn. That being said, Philly obviously needs the trade more, as their main trade piece has not seen the court

It's a showdown with both sides waiting to see who is going to blink first. I wouldn't be surprised at all if neither sides ends up giving in, and the trade never happens.

it not only seems like a great fit now, it will look good in 3 seasons when all they have left is Ben Simmons still in his prime atleast. They need some young blue chip talent. Ben will be a stud in BKN no doubt, but Harden was a 5+ star guy when BKN traded for him just one calendar year ago... Simmons for Harden didn't work last season (Philly-Houston trade talks), now it does? And yes I know Harden is about to be a UFA, which is why it does work now...

Simmons + Green + pick seems a fair value. Anything else would make Sixers wait until offseason.

Embiid isn't 35 either

Simmons and Curry would be a very nice haul for the Nets, Curry is quietly one of the best guards in the league.

Irving
Curry
Durant
Simmons
Claxton

That's a good lineup, decent spacing with 3 great shooters, 4 ball handlers, 3 solid defenders.

It didn't work because of the personal grudge Fertitta had with Morey. If you're a billionaire, usually you're the one who's on the winning side of the grudge. Did Brooklyn have a better package? Perhaps, but that vendetta surely played a part in it.

Get it done so that sports media can't waste any more time with pointless Simmons stories.

On the plus side we'll have the Vegemite Bros with Kyrie and Simmons.

What happens when Brooklyn just walks away, because the Sixers have insufficient cap space to sign Harden. What happens if they just ignore the Sixers...What's the plan then?

When the Nets option goes away, so does all the semi good offers. Morey's over a barrel at that point.

I don't see how the Nets would deal with Philly given that they are in the same conference and will likely meet in the playoff. I would think the Nets will try to get some depth from a Western conference team. Role players like Norm Powell and Rob Covington would have helped the Nets a lot.
