My username is alive baby! Pretty doubtful this goes through.
What a joke we are scrambling to dump Tobias after the assets we gave up. And that’s after he has basically played above what realistic expectations should have been. And people still try to argue Elton was a good GM smh.

Hold on. Are you telling me that if the Heat had the option to trade Jimmy for Tobias, they'd turn it down?HardenToSixers wrote:My username is alive baby! Pretty doubtful this goes through.

Re: Benedict departs? Part XI Trade Thread - Let this be the end!
This is what I'd like to know. The deadline is at 3 PM, so they have to call it in by 2:59 PM. But when does this deal realistically need to be agreed upon? Do the terms have to be in writing, or is it all verbal with the paperwork taking place after the fact? In my mind, both teams are going to want to make smaller moves (that is, if Brooklyn does decide they need to trade him by tomorrow) before the deadline. Seems like if nothing has been announced by 2 PM, it doesn't seem like it would happen. However, I do remember Fultz's trade to Orlando not being announced until several minutes after 3 PM, so I'm not sure how exactly it all works. I'm sure Daryl already has his ducks in a row (as does Marks) in regard to the follow up moves.

Part of this is based on how it works in other leagues but my understanding is that you need to be on the line with the league prior to the deadline. There's often a backlog of calls at the deadline where the league still needs to review the cap ramifications and pick wording before they approve the trade so as long as you have a spot in line, you're good to go.

Re: Benedict departs? Part XI Trade Thread - Let this be the end!
I feel like Marks is absolutely considering doing a Harden deal. He isn't against it, he just doesn't want the deal to be on Morey's terms. Morey is probably essentially fair game on anyone not named Embiid, Maxey or Thybulle. I could see the posture from Marks being, I want both of Maxey and Thybulle on top of Seth and Ben (and maybe even picks/Springer). Morey isn't negotiating that. It's take the Ben + Seth (/Green) deal, or lose him for nothing this summer.
Would you guys prefer Morey budges a little on his willing price to pay if it lands Harden? Or would you hold strong and see if Marks folds, and if not - we'll just sign him this summer.

To be fair the Jimmy Butler trade was actually a good trade.
RoCo/Saric/Bayless for Butler. Sixers didn't even give up any 1sts.
I liked it then and still do. I didn't think the Tobias Harris deal was necessary and I thought it was giving up assets too quickly before seeing what the team 'needed' playing a full season with Butler/Simmons/Embiid.
The trade itself wasn't monumentally awful especially in hindsight since the two 1sts turned into like an #17 and #19 picks... but the worst mistakes Brand made was that off-season by far and the biggest anchor around the neck of the franchise to date because of his decisions.

Man, that's tough. I really want to see a title run this season with Embiid + Harden. It'd be one of the best shots they'd have together. I think my ultimate ultimate ultimate offer would be Simmons/Curry/Springer/2023 FRP for Harden/Carter/Millsap. Ideally, the FRP or Springer are removed from the actual offer.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker

I know it's probably the wrong move, but I say let Marks feel like he won. If Marks doesn't feel like he won, he'll probably just try and go for it all this season with that Big Three. Best to just add that one extra pick or one extra swap and be done with it. Let's make Hans happy *this season*.

If I'm Morey, my position is this. You can have Simmons obviously. On top of that, you get to choose from three options:
1. Curry
2. Thybulle
3. Green and a 1st.
Past that, unless we're talking about stuff like 2nds or Joe or Bassey or Reed, I'm moving on. And by that I mean I'm moving on to deals that will set up the Sixers having cap space to sign Harden for nothing in the offseason while telling Harden to sabotage the hell out of the rest of Brooklyn's season.

I think adding Curry and a 1st is already budging TBH. They're getting Ben Simmons *AND* then adding that stuff in is a pretty significant return for a soon to be FA.
I can understand the indecision though because there really is a part of me that wants to say **** it. Trade Harris in a 2 team or 3 team deal with the Sixers getting back expirings (ideally players who could help fill the void the rest of this season) and tell the Nets in the summer "Screw you. Here's our cap space. We're trading Simmons for a cheap player and picks and signing Harden outright. You get jack ****"

I don't think there are any negotiations on Springer or the picks. Just would you be willing to toss in Maxey or Thybulle. I think that's the hardest question. I might go Tisse tbh and then go all out on trying to acquire some 2-way wing before the deadline, or on the buyout market.
I know his defensive game is key, and he has ideal size and athleticism and instincts to be a premier stopper for a very long time in this league, but he isn't bringing anything offensively. Also look how Devin Booker fried us yesterday. And I get Devin Booker is a top one percentile scorer in this game, but those are the types of talents we're going to run into in the playoffs - and they're going to manipulate who they want guarding them through the usage of pick & rolls. It'd probably be more effective to have a bunch of serviceable defenders that can switch and have length out there, than to expect Thybulle to be our savior - while Harris and Seth are being spun around and targeted.

Hold strong. As much as I'd like the deal to get done now, it isn't worth essentially two starters when you can get him for 'free' this summer.
The only thing I don't want to happen is moving Simmons before Morey gets the deal he wants, be it Harden or whoever. No pennies on the dollar garbage after all this.

I didn’t say the Jimmy trade I said the Tobias trade. Which was awful. We could’ve used that same trade package at the time to upgrade in a much more meaningful way. And we then doubled down on that bad trade giving him long term money which has hampered us financially since then.
