Seems like the ball is in Lebron’s court, literally.

an example of a perfectly bs story that is only one step beyond the truth so it's plausible and also plausibly deniable

 Lakers FO leaking this so they can shield themselves from blame when the move is inevitably made and the Lakers somehow get worse

This is not news, lol. Wall is the only option for trading Westbrick.

Be hilarious if he forced Russ to get stretch waived.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Well if HoopsView says so, it has to be true, right?

LeBron is Wall's agent and the GM of the Lakers, I'd say it truly is solely up to him.

Wall probably would face similar challenges next to AD and LBJ that Westbrook does though.

Guess that's the only deal out there. What a disaster.

No it actually is from B/R, although I don't even know how people find these nobody Twitter accounts.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2953314-tracking-last-minute-trade-deadline-rumors-plus-nba-expert-predictions

The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to trade Russell Westbrook at the deadline, sources tell B/R. The caveat: If LeBron James decides that fellow Klutch Sports client John Wall could be a better fit and is willing to push extremely hard for Westbrook's exit, the Lakers might consider a deal with the Houston Rockets.

It makes no sense at all though.

I can see 1 logical reason management to leak this story.

1. LA management is ready to roll the dice on a Westbrook-Wall trade.
2. Houston is on board for the trade.
3. They've approached Lebron and he is ambivalent.
4. Lakers management thinks lakers fans hate Russ and would be open to the trade.

By leaking this maybe they are trying to show the public supports the trade to Lebron

I'd be down for a Westbrook-Wall swap, as long as the Lakers don't give up any 1st round picks.

Trading Westbrook to NY for Randle and Fournier is another route the Lakers could take.

1-5: Lebron, Monk, Fournier, Randle, AD
6-10: Bradley/Nunn, Reaves/THT, Ariza, Melo, Dwight

There is incentive for the Knicks too, as they trade 2 longer bad contracts for 1 shorter but worse contract. The trade could be made larger with a swap of Kemba-Nunn.

honestly i think westbrook is fine. its just that he makes too much money with lebron/ad.
lebron should threaten him to opt out is the best scenario. or give him a longer deal 3/60 so lakers can add mini star.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

This. It’s beyond stupid to trade Westbrook for Wall when the Rockets are just going to buy out wall anyways. They already signalled they’d buy out Westbrook post trade. Westbrook and Wall have the exact same contract among and remaining years. This is all a pump fake from Houston to sucker some poor idiot into giving up a first round pick.

Don't worry, we keep Wall ready when the call is made.

Probably need to iron out the protections on pick now.

If the Lakers can pull this off without the pick, might as well. Any Westbrook trade they can make in the offseason they can make with Wall in his place.

The 1st round pick is non negotiable imo. Id rather wait for the summer and trade Russ then. In reality whoever we get is most likely not going to move the needle for the Lakers to winning it all. It would be hilarious though if Russ leaving and Wall coming in changes our dynamic completely and we start winning games.
