Sabonis is a UFA in 2 years. You think he stays in Sacramento?

We have historically been able to retain pretty much every player we've traded for, the hard part is getting them here but they do seem to stay once they are. I definitely think there's a chance he stays in Sac.

Yup. My post from yesterday -

"Carmichael Dave (not my favorite) pointed out how it's kind of a myth. Free agents don't pick sac, but we have generally been able to retain the guys we want.

Off the top of my head. Cousins wanted to badly stay, Gay signed his extension, Fox was happy to stay, Barnes resigned, Holmes resigned (possibly took a discount?).

I'm sure there's more if we go back further, but we obviously haven't had many good players worth resigning."

Hardest part is getting them here. We have also had a nice history with European players liking it in Sacramento + Sabonis wife lives in LA and he wanted to be in Cali. Our only risk would be the Lakers is my guess.

Yeah I was going to say about the Cali link. I think the upside to this is there is a great chance we have a very good big man that will not only be in his prime, but the way he plays, he is going to have longevity.

To me, without taking any other trades into it, the next big thing is to get a coach that is going to maximise Sabonis. Will head into the general thread for more.

Ya possibly. People get way too hung up on the "4 years younger". Sabonis is 25!!!! He could be great the next 7-10 years.

If we can build a winner in the next 2 years, that's all that will matter.

I'm sure they would have.

Monte needs to be calling the Blazers about expirings for Hart. It's only $3.9m next season if they don't want him, but if they want to wipe it clean why not.

This is the part of the offense we miss as the handoffs we run at the top of the arc are useless. None of our bigs can operate out there. Sabonis will open everything up.

I think the Kings fans are sad to see Haliburton go. I feel it's a talent upgrade, and that's what we need. Hopefully you'll see it in a similar way?

AMEN! This is how i feel. People are acting as if Sabonis is at the end of his prime and 35 years old

Getting a little nervous that nothing else has been done today.

Sabonis/Holmes/Jones/Len/Queta
Bagley/Harkless/Metu
Barnes/Lamb/Woodard
Fox/Holiday/Ramsey/ (Davis)
Mitchell

This team needs to be balanced and it needs to happen quick. For all the talk about us being loaded on guards, we are looking really short now that Davis is out and Buddy/Hali gone. Need at least another pg, a legit power forward, and ideally one more 3/4 off the bench but that can be addressed in the off-season.

I just saw a report that we plan on keeping Barnes now.

Don't worry. I'm sure they are waiting for the game tonight. We wouldn't have enough bodies if we plan on moving too many guys. Although Bagley and Holmes have been out.
I doubt Harkless plays tonight? Would be pretty sore after the ankle injury.

Thinking about Holmes deals.

Donte DiVencenzo and Grayson Allen for Holmes

Fox/DDV/Holiday/Barnes/Sabonis
Davion/Allen/Lamb/Harkless/Jones

Get some shooting back and all around Fox and Sabonis timeline. Have to know DDV is wanting as a RFA tho

Would love to see Richaun in Milwaukee, love Giannis. No chance they give up DDV and Allen.

Maybe DDV + Lopez? Lopez is supposedly back before the playoffs, if we could swing him to a 3rd team that could make some sense.

Ya I'm hoping the Kings guys made it to Indiana for physicals already.

I mean if they are keeping Barnes.

Jones/Queta
Metu/Woodard
Barnes/King
Fox/Ramsey
Mitchell

You have 9 guys there. That means you could have already traded Holmes/Bagley/Len without the 3 new guys even being ready to go.

Good point. Would think Holmes & Bagley would be the top priority too if Monte does indeed plan on keeping Barnes.

The report about keeping Barnes could be a poker play by Monte. Haliburton wasn't going anywhere, remember?

Trading him for a prospect or pick sounds counter to anything going on..

There are no reports about keeping Richaun..

Ya, as upset as the fan base was with the Hali trade. Imagine how stupid it would be to trade him for Sabonis (clearly indicating we want to win soon) to then trade Barnes for a rebuilding piece. At least what we did yesterday is a direction, this would be trading just to trade.

Only way I can see Barnes moved would be in a Detroit trade. Grant/Olynyk for Barnes/Bagley. It would be stupid not to just do Olynyk for Bagley and call it a day, but maybe they just want to create a totally new environment.

Haven't seen it mentioned with regards to the trade yet, but this draft again looks pretty guard heavy--especially once you get outside of the top 3-4.

Top 4 are (in some order): Paolo, Chet, Ivey, and Smith--3 non-guards.

Over the next 11 picks (5-15) I'm seeing as many as 8 guards.

I mean they technically could still trade him tomorrow. Sabonis may play, maybe they test those 2 out together for a game?
