True, I'm happy for you guys, that was a coup. To be fair, it wasn't reasonable to believe this team would implode this hard and this quickly, but perhaps your front office had a special foresight! I still think it was a massive blunder not to take Allen though, he's really good.

“What we know is… from what the people that I’ve spoken to… he wants out of Brooklyn, he does not want to be there. Now he hasn’t completely gone nuclear the way that he did in Houston, where he’s showing up late or refusing to show up at all, or what have you. One executive described it to me as him being at a 60% level.

Honestly, basically every attempt at a super team has imploded, and imploded much faster than people expect.. even the ones that win multiple titles.

It's just a ticking time bomb.

I hate Kyrie Irving. I hope he never wins another title.

That being said, I’d rather see Kyrie Irving win 10 straight championships and retire as the consensus NBA GOAT than see James Harden win one ring.

I don’t think it was a full max. Also no, my understanding is the team trading for the player has to pay the kicker.

It was a max I think, but he now has 10 years of service and is eligble to make about $3 million more than he does today. However, it seems like I was right regarding the trade kicker:

"Most trade kickers are worth 15%, the highest percentage allowed. A trade bonus must be paid by the team that trades the player, rather than the team acquiring him."

https://www.yardbarker.com/nba/articles/nba_players_with_trade_kickers_in_2020_21/s1_14822_33795086
It wasnt a Max, two millions less per year

Ok, thanx for correcting me.

There is NO WAY that James Harden is wearing a Nets uniform again. Leverage swinging HEAVILY to Morey.

No Maxey, No Thybulle. Curry and Drummond IF Sixers get Mills and Aldridge...and I am not even sure if I am down with that. Would prefer to give them Joe/Reed/picks than Drummond.

Your move, Sean.

Yes, we would be surefire champions with all time great players like Brogdon or CJ Mccollum

If Harden is worried about the backlash he should play like an MVP, and do whatever he wants. Faking injuries, and not giving even 50% on the court, but not formally requesting a trade, but forcing it through back channels is not helping his cause. On the contrary.
And let this be a lesson for teams/players. If a player is being unprofessional with one team, he is most likely going to do it again. It might work, but chances are slim, so don't give up too much for such a player.

Same thing with Kyrie. Now, Nets didn't give up anything for him, but KD gave up a dynasty/Curry for him...He probably would be on his way for his 4th ring/finals MVP.

Which makes me worry about Simmons. There is a very high chance he will do the same thing with the Nets or another team.

We saw in the past what happened with Dwight. He burned bridges left and right: Orlando, Lakers, Houston, Charlotte, Atlanta. The Lakers took a chance on him on min, so basically 0 risk.

As a Sixers fan, what package did you prefer for Simmons/Curry over Harden?

Sounds like Nets will lose 1 year of a player, while the Sixers will lose 4 years of a player.

How is that Sixers having the leverage?

I am Sixers supporter but this would be just a scenario of two clowns being traded for each other. Not thrilled by getting this version of Harden, but I just want the Simmons news to end. I cant take another 4+ months of this.

No, there you go. Fixated on some semi-broken down player on his last legs. Look at the young up and coming pgs we could have had that are about to play in their first all star game. And then add a solid vet forward. That’s the kind of package we could get for Simmons, without giving up Maxey, Matisse plus picks

Ummm...you are kidding - right?

What is your point here - that because the Sixers are trading Simmons and his contract for Harden and whatever financial commitment they will need to make to keep him, that the Nets are better off with Simmons (and whatever non-Maxey/Thybulle assets they get)?

Err...OK.

They are not trading him now.

They are like 40 games from a legit shot at title.

Nash knows how hard this is to get to, you don't blow it up now.
When those 3 guys are on the floor and healthy, NO ONE is beating them except KD's clown shoes.
Giannnas got lucky last year.

Those guys teamed up and planned this for a coupe of years.
They are friends, laughing at us all thinking there is strife.

Kyrie is using this vax thing to save himself for the playoffs.
Last year when he tried to take 'personal time off' he got ripped hard.
This vax thing just gave him another excuse to not playthe whole regular season.
He knows he's fragile, one hard fall or too much playing time and he tweaks his knee and another season is over.

Keeping Philly hanging is stopping Dealer Darryl from making other deals to improve that roster.
It's all gamesmanship by Marks and the Nets FO.
