I am in better shape and more well conditioned than Harden and I am pushing 41.

yeah no

It is by a wide margin.

Imagine, people thought MIN should give up Beasley, Prince, McDaniels and two 1sts for Simmons. If these offers are fair, would Harden be worth Beasley, Prince, Curry, McDaniels and four 1sts? Crazy.

In the end Simmons had HUGE value bringing James Harden back for just one FRP in 22 and another in 27.

LOL.

To be fair, Seth Curry is a quality piece too, but I genuinely do not know how you can look at this trade and not think "Daryl Morey was completely right to ignore garbage offers and hold for a superstar."

I kinda feel like people have thrown out objectivity over not wanting Ben Simmons, but whatever. It's over with.

    yeah no

I read a fascinating sports science article on Harden, back when he was 28.

They measured him in every NBA physical category, like quickness, speed, leap, and a dozen more. Harden was in the bottom 1-10% of them in every single category except for one .. stopping, where he was like in the 98th percentile!

Now, you would think that no NBA player with those physical characteristics should be able to excel in the NBA, heck, maybe even stay in the league! But to Harden’s credit, he learned how to use that one physical ability to become an NBA star! I got to give him credit for figuring out how to do that. But if there is one NBA player to choose to compare yourself to athletically, Harden might be the guy!

Congratz to the 76ers for getting Harden.
Congratz to Ben for leaving a toxic situation. I wish Ben all the best.

Both of these players are the definition of losers. More so for harden than Simmons tho.

Don’t mind the haul for Brooklyn actually. Curry should have wide open shots with KI/BS dishing it to him or KD drawing doubles. Whatever Durant needs to get help for Brooklyn games, BS and SC should be a lot better than freaking pudgy harden

Yes Seth is a quality piece, but still the Value of Simmons was demonstrated to be very high based on this deal.

Bobby Marks just said the deal also saves Brooklyn $15 mil, with lux taxes!

I am not even comparting athleticism, I would make no such claims, but I am in better shape and in better conditioning and it isn't even close.

Both teams made out well. The Nets need depth and their line up is way more balanced.

      Kyrie/Mills
      Curry
      KD/(Harris)
      Ben/Griffin
      Claxton/Drummond

      Maxey
      Harden
      Thybulle/Green
      Harris
      Embiid

I'm giving Morey a standing ovation! Everyone said it was stupid, it couldn't be done. He has to trade Simmons in the summer, he has to trade Simmons before training camp, he has to trade Simmons before the season starts. He didn't have to do any of that. He played the long game and won. He wanted a superstar, he wanted to put the Sixers in the title picture while Embiid is in his prime.

It was a bold and great move to hold out, let the market change, and strike when he got his chance. Regardless of if this works out or not, I give him huge props for having the balls to hold out and get what he wanted as opposed to being pressured to act. He was in a situation where he could afford to wait and he won.

Harden turns 33 in August. He will opt out and want another super max. Paying an already injury prone Harden 35% of your cap for the next 4 or 5 years is a mixed bag. Also you lost your starting SG and 2 firsts in the deal. Finally Millsap is a slight downgrade from Drummond at backup C. Definitely a win for Morey, but how big a win is open to debate.

Didn't Morey state Simmons was worth an all-star and picks in exchange? And yet, he ended up dealing Simmons with picks, along with a pretty good player in Curry, for an all-star? To make matters worse, that all-star has basically given up on his past two teams in less than two years and will be making a significant chunk of change next season.

I'm not saying Morey wasn't right to wait, but this is no slam dunk either.
