Up there with the '04 and '13 Lakers for most underwhelming seasons compared to expectations with the big names they had.

This is easily worse since they were likely winning it all last season if healthy.
The '04 Lakers got trounced regardless. The '13 Lakers were also going to get trounced even if Kobe didn't tear his achilles.

I'm not shocked this trio didn't work. Potential is there sure, I would have been hopeful if it was the Pacers but they all are kind odd to me. Kyrie no explanation needed, Durant is just soft mentally, and Harden is a diva.

I never thought this team would win it all. Knew it was a volatile mix of primadonnas. Harden was the adult in the trio, if that tells you anything. So, I vote false. Maybe the young (KD) OKC squad was a bigger failure, in terms of never winning it all. 2013 Lakers were never gonna be good, and '04 Lakers had already won three titles.

Harden was the adult...? I think you mean Durant was. The Durant slander really needs to stop... Mans just hoops.

All the reporting said Harden was the adult in their first season. This season, he's the default for actually playing.
Gtg, have a good one, Karate!

Come on. F*ck no.
These guys were together in the middle of their primes. Meanwhile the stars on the Lakers teams you mentioned were not.

Not sure which reporting you're referencing, KD has been nothing short of fantastic as a leader and player for the Nets. Harden was fine in year one, but by the start of this year has checked out - maybe you can blame Kyrie for some of that, but Durant was always a notch above.
Lower maintenance and better attitude than both Kyrie and Harden...

They would have easily won the title last year if they were all healthy. They lost to the Bucks in a game 7 OT with just KD and a one-legged Harden.
The problem is they were never healthy, and Kyrie went full crazy this year.

There is a reason they termed it in hours instead of seasons or even days
a slave stood behind the conqueror holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting

All the reporting said Harden was the adult in their first season. This season, he's the default for actually playing.
Gtg, have a good one, Karate!
He literally quit on the team. Maybe not as obviously as he did in Houston, but make no mistake...Harden has quit on 2 teams in the last year.

Re: "Scary Hours" - the biggest failure in NBA history?
Kyrie sunk this trio. If he wasn't a looney tune, they would have won it all. I don't like Harden but this team failing had everything to do with Kyrie. I would have pulled the same thing Harden did because Kyrie is not reliable mentally. You don't know when this guy is going to check out mentally or when he will show up mentally. Also, it's not a given the mandate in NYC will be lifted so you don't know if Kyrie will be fully available for the playoffs. I think Harden factored this in too when deciding to request a trade.

There was no adult. None of these guys are real leaders.

I'm surprised that Harden checked out. Just him and Durant could've crushed.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Word
Durant has been the best in the league for the last couple of years and almost willed them to a title alone. Weird to see him grouped with these other two dudes. Give him just one of a healthy Harden and Irving lol and it would've been over, let alone all 3 playing.
