Hornets keep all our young pieces and picks and by moving Ish open minutes for Bouknight who was never going anywhere. And neither was PJ. Nor Kai Jones. I like that Harrell played in college with Rozier and I like that he won't go down without a fight even if overmatched. Hornets are very soft as a team and needed some edge.

I think he's one of the more underutilized players in the league; with his offensive production, you should build an offense or defense to make it work around him.

I'm excited that we got Trez and kept our core. Hopefully he injects passion into our team, we have been playing lifeless for a couple weeks now

Good call on the Harrell - Rozier connection, didn't think of that.

Montrezl coming home to North Carolina and reuniting with Rozier, I like it. Carey was glued to the bench and obviously wasn't ever going to play ahead of Richards, Kai, or Thor. Harrell doesn't address our issues, but I still like him a lot because of how hard he plays. We need someone like that.

Yeah I like this for Charlotte. Low risk, medium-high reward.

Trez didn't really make sense on Washington post-Porzingis trade, but you'd think they could have gotten something for him. This is just a dump.

I guess hornet didn’t like the cost of other center upgrade and Harrell cost is pretty much nothing .

Not a bad try to see what they can improve on the offensive end with him .

fun fact: Charlotte tried to sign Harrell in 2020. He turned down more money from us to go to LA. He winds up here anyway.

Harrell is not "The answer" for us, but he's a bandaid that can slow down the gushing wound that is our center rotation this year. Plumlee cannot do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g aside from pass ok and occasionally rebound. He's a liability on defense and offense. Harrell is a quality offensive player who is still a liability on defense, but probably no more than Plumlee already is. To get him essentially for free is honestly pretty great.

Again, he shouldn't stop us from making a move for a legit starter in the present or future, but I like this stopgap move a ton more than trading every trade asset we have for Jakob Poeltl

I think (and the advanced numbers support) Plumlee being a much better defender than Harrell, but you're also 5th last on D in the whole league so maybe it can't really get much worse just because it's hard to give up any more points than they do and Harrell at least moves better so might fit with the aggressive scheme the Hornets want to play.

But yeah, no brainer move for them. Harrell is a good offensive player and Ish's 14 minutes can basically be covered by Lamelo and Rozier going up from 32/33 minutes to 38 each when it's money time anyways.
Where's the D?

Apparently Charlotte sent one of the 2nds that Boston sent us in the Hayward S&T to Washington in this trade. Boston owed us 2023 and 2024 2nds. We sent the 2023 2nd round pick that we top 45 protected, otherwise it becomes the 2024 2nd pick.

Which teams is he still missing? I mean at this point he probably played for more teams than he didn't right?

early returns on Harrell are terrific. It was the Pistons, so grain of salt needed, but the Hornets set a franchise record with 79 first half points, but Harrell had his fingerprints all over the game. put up 15/6 in 22 minutes vs Detroit on 7-9 shooting on pure instinct like 6 hours after getting to Charlotte, providing an interior scoring threat that we simply didn't have, and allowed PJ to play PF for the majority of his minutes. Dude is going to feast with LaMelo in the PnR and on cuts to the basket. He was also more active defensively. His energy was much needed.

The expectation is just for him to be better than Plumlee, and he is for sure doing that. His 15 points matches Plumlee's season high. I foresee him averaging around that number in our offense.
