Is it more or less likely they extend Kyrie now?

The way things are going in NY State, they may yet get rid of the vaccine mandate in NYC.

Doubt it. But even if they did, what has Kyrie done to deserve an extension? Remove the needle situation, and you still have the most injury prone star in the league, who isn't a good defender and is only mediocre at playmaking. Not to mention that he can leave your team at any point for non basketball reasons. Extending him is more insane than Harden

He is coming off the bets season a player has had in Nets history and was about to help us win a title before giannis took him out.

he is a 29 year old/peak all-nba player and 50/40/90 threat every year who has already proven he can be a title player as a #2.

you clearly hate Kyrie and are here to troll.

If they let KI walk, either after this season or next season, would they gain a big salary slot for other players in free agency?

Or are they going to be over the cap with KD and Simmons and the Joe Harris contract and the rest?

Without a sign and trade to create a TPE, no, Brooklyn would not have a salary slot or capspace to replace with a similar player. Joe, Ben and Kevin alone get us close to the cap. But, it offers some flexibility against record setting luxury tax penalties. That should be enough wiggle room to retain young players and sign veterans with the MLE over the next few seasons. Overall, it's good for us.

Kyrie can only win a title as a #2 when your #1 is prime Lebron James. KD is 34 coming off an achilles injury. It won't be long before KD is a #2 option himself.

Kyrie cannot play the same role he did back in CLE and expect to win a title. He needed to step up as a player and a leader and he failed to do that. Thus the roster was shaken up twice to make up for his shortcomings. The franchise has bent over backwards to appease him and his antics and he continues to watch the Nets implode while he is in street clothes.

He has not been held accountable which is I why I don't have confidence that things are going to be better.

BTW, there's more and more talk that Harden made it known he wasn't happy, so the Nets were afraid he'd walk.

One of the reasons he wasn't happy was Kyrie's reduced availability.

If the trade doesn't work out or if it works out too well for the Sixers, do the Nets blame Kyrie for breaking up the big 3?

Would that affect their decision on extending him?

1) No, of course not.
2) No, of course they extend him.
