How different are Harrell and Holmes, honestly? Harrell has a 7' 4" wing span and 9' 1" standing reach, hustles like a demon and scores efficiently inside and has playoff experience.

And I can't imagine what the Kings asked for Holmes but I'm 100% confident it was more than Ish Smith + Carey Jr. I saw Kings fans asking for PJ + Pelicans pick.

You know those scoring droughts we go through?

Hopefully LaMelo to Trez or Miles to Trez will pick and roll our way out of them.

we are no longer a 1-trick pony on offense. trezz gives us another option on nights when 3s arent falling.

Does he take Ish's place in the livermush boys immediately or will Eric Collins pair him with someone else? He's from Tarboro, not sure exactly what the qualification was.

it seems like a great trade and...kind of small in impact at the same time. the glaring weakness on the team isn't really less so. but they shuffled up in overall rotation quality, even though Ish Smith has won games for the Hornets this year.

Great, low-risk trade. Harrell has a chance to help us and we only sent out totally expendable pieces. Moving Ish opens up time for Bouk, moving Carey helps clear up the developmental C logjam a bit.

Good job, Mitch.

Trez will be huge in LaMelo's development even if his stay is short. He will learn a lot about the pick and roll over the next couple months
hopefully Kai takes plenty of notes as well

He's a really good fit on offense and he'll be our best rebounder.

The bad is our defense still sucks.

fill in the blank: Montrezl Harrell is our best center since ________

2017-18 Dwight Howard
2015-16 Cody Zeller
2013-14 Al Jefferson

not going further back because there's no way he's going to be better than Big Al.

I was in on trading for Poeltl, but not at the price the Spurs were reportedly demanding. He's a better defender than Turner though so I imagine they were right to ask for a good haul. I'm just glad we didn't go all in and pay it.

Since this current rotation and Cody/Bismack.

He'll probably average Dwight-lite stats without the defense. 15-9 or something similar.

JMAC3 wrote:Areas where Harrell will help
1. Free throws. He averages 4.5 per game which would lead our team.
2. Pick and Roll- Finishing and Gravity. Plumlee sucks at being threat to attack rim in pick and roll and because that teams don't have to help off shooters as much. Biz was best pick and roll player LaMelo had played with. Harrell should help this.
3. Toughness. Dude has gold teeth. We needed this, espcially in a playoff series.

Areas where Harrell wont help
1. Defense. He isn't an upgrade here at all.
2. Passing. Dude is a black hole on offense.
3. Longterm. He is expiring, so I expect this to be a 1 year rental with us looking to find answer at Center again in offseason.

you had me at " Dude has gold teeth." :P

safe trade while keeping our rotation players, front office still believes in developing all of our youth.

can't be angry at this trade. I would love to scoop a defensive guard, wing now with the free spot.

Harrell's advanced stats, especially offensively, are better than any of our centers in history except Jefferson

Sure, but there is probably a reason we got him for practically nothing and he's been team-hopping since he left the Clippers.

Washington had Dinwidde, Beal and KCP playmaking on perimeter. Harrell is probably rock hard thinking about playing Melo.
