WOJ: Harden, Millsap for Simmons, Curry, Drummons, Two #1's

I think Harden was more of a disaster than Deron Williams. Deron at least gave us like what, 4 seasons? Never lived up to the hype outside of some random moments, but he was at least...something. Feel like we got half a season out of Harden, which was ultimately useless anyway since he got hurt for the playoffs. Then we got this shell of Harden who was honestly hurting us more than helping us this season. Not to mention everything we gave up for him.

Good riddance man, don't think a "star" player ever had as terrible of a run here ever.

Considering the vitriol that has been lodged against D-Will over the years, it's crazy that another player has come even remotely close to be disliked as he was. I never thought anyone would get more stick from Nets fans for the rest of my life lol.

I still don't hate Harden. It mostly stems from the fact that I agree with him about Kyrie's part time status and that dude played on one leg for us, which plenty of fans here are ungrateful about. He earned my respect from that.

I approve of this deal as long as Simmons has a chip on his shoulder and is ready to prove everyone wrong.

If he’s in shape and mentally ready with a FT and improved jump shot and can hit KD abs Kyrie and our shooters when they are open while playing HOF level D then LFG!

I'm not placing any hope in Simmons' improving his jump shot or free throw shooting. He's basically refused to do so for several years now despite the fact that it would improve him as a player and help his team. I never understood it. I'll treat any offensive improvement as a pleasant surprise rather than an expectation.

If Nash is fired, I think you can make a case that he should be fired too. He let friendship and leanings toward player empowerment blind him from making a wise decision.

When Nash was hired, Marks said that given the talent we had on the roster, a coach with high EQ was needed (presumably mores than a coach with high IQ). In other words, "These guys are so talented offensively that we're bound to win on the floor. We just need a coach that manages people well and we'll be fine."

Our GM entrusted the greatest offensively talented trio of all-time to someone who has never coached basketball at any level before.

Let that sink in.

It doesn't matter that Nash has been an MVP caliber player before. We've seen other ex-players at all levels of talent fail at coaching. For as good as our offense has been, it should've been even better. Coaches are supposed to help teams; we've won in spite of Nash.

I personally feel like Marks has dropped the ball ever since he got KD & Kyrie. I've disagreed with the personnel/fit around our core for a while now. Initially, I approved of us gambling with Nash over a retread, because Marks had almost always proven me wrong prior to the hire and I put faith that he'd done the proper due diligence in vetting Nash to make sure he was a great coaching candidate.

KD/Kyrie were probably coming to the Nets no matter what. Marks had no role in it. Except making the Nets look like a competent organization.

Harden trade was again engineered by KD. Marks just executed it.

His big decision was to hire Nash. A total disaster. You could make a very good case if we hired Ty Lue then none of this happens. We don't lose 9 in a row. Harden doesn't get so upset. And we keep the team intact.

I'm not ungrateful, I respect him for his commitment...that season. But his commitment comes and goes whenever things get a little bit tough, which is what I don't respect.

I don't see the big difference here, Deron whined and complained and underperformed...but also had actual injuries which limited his ability. He still gave us 4+ seasons and helped get us to the playoffs multiple times.

What did Harden actually accomplish for us before he forced his way out? Honestly? We're supposed to give him credit that we got good value for him? Da fuq? That's on Marks, not Harden.

I think this is still a solid return for Harden, knowing he wanted to leave. Something Prokorov 100% denied till yesterday lol. Anyway, Curry & Simmons will fit KD and Kyrie better and even Drummond could help out occasionally. Losing out on Millsap is obviously also a win cause he’s obviously done.

It would be a PR disaster if a player openly came out and told the media how bad their coach was. I don't expect nor want that to happen. However, I would expect those opinions to be shared with the front office.

But I do think this trade is an indictment on Nash. He had talked to Harden, supposedly thought everything was cool, and was pretty sure a trade wouldn't be made. At the very least, I think it definitely shows that Harden didn't believe in him.

I think it's the former. To be a little fair, Harden has traded away superstars from his own team or got himself traded in four consecutive seasons. He's clearly a mercenary. It's just both sad and painfully amusing that Nash couldn't really pick up on it.

I've never hated D-Will either...I just never talked about it outloud because I didn't feel like arguing with people over whether he was truly as bad as they believed. D-Will had a horrible cycle of self-doubt and injuries that he could never overcome.

Curry fixes our spacing issues until Harris is back. Once he's back we'll have A LOT of shooting with KD/Kai/Patty/Curry/Joe.

We got back 2 picks that we lost from the HOU trade which is always a plus(Marks usually drafts well late in the draft).

Drummond gives us an actual big man that can get boards and protect the rim. Should be part of the rotation ahead of Sharpe/Blake at least.

Yall know I'm not a big Simmons fan, but it's a blank slate for me. I hope he can get his head on straight and get straight to work.
I think we can use a "death" lineup, a la warriors with Simmons at the 5 and KD at the 4.

Simmons immediately becomes our best defender which means KD doesn't have to exert as much as energy as he had been.
I hope Nash can work some schemes to help Simmons offensively. My opinion of Nash is very low now so would not hold my breath.

With our personel we should be a run and gun fast paced offense, no more sluggin it with Harden palmin the ball for 22 seconds as he barely walks across the court. KD and Kyrie are also maximized in that type of offense + players enjoy bball more when the rock is moving and being shared + fun to watch for fans. Let's just say watching Harden ain't the most aesthically pleasing thing in the world.

It is sad we never got to see the big 3 due to injuries and Kyrie not wanting to get vaxxed, but it was worth a shot. Shame it didn't work but if Harden was ready to bail already, good riddance I say. He gave up mightly easily and starting acting up as soon as things got harder, which says a lot about him as a baller/person. Not sure he'll ever get that chip with that type of bitch mentality.

At least now we can all get a sight of relief and move on with our lives. The last few weeks have been intense. The lockeroom was toxic, player morale very low, bad chemistry, etc.

At least if 7/11 gets that chip now with this group nobody can talk **** about superteams anymore.

So the nets basically traded 7 first round picks, levert and Allen for Simmons and Seth curry. Yeah that makes sense. Never should have done that harden trade last year. I didn’t like it from the get go. Now we trade him to an eastern conference rival so they can go win a chip. Simmons better come in and be the player they all hype him to be. This was a huge fail

this Sean Mark made an error believing in harden but the idea of the big 3 was an ultimate idea, the pain of losing allen and levert and then seeing james harden behavior was pretty low. glad we got some 1sts back. Curry is one of the best shooters in the game, Simmons will shine with KD and Kyrie. Drummonds help our rebounding
