I still don't hate Harden. It mostly stems from the fact that I agree with him about Kyrie's part time status and that dude played on one leg for us, which plenty of fans here are ungrateful about. He earned my respect from that.

Either way, we got good value for him. No bad blood here. Deron is still way worse to me.

Then if we're being fair, Deron played through injuries too.

I'm not ungrateful, I respect him for his commitment...that season. But his commitment comes and goes whenever things get a little bit tough, which is what I don't respect.

I don't see the big difference here, Deron whined and complained and underperformed...but also had actual injuries which limited his ability. He still gave us 4+ seasons and helped get us to the playoffs multiple times.

What did Harden actually accomplish for us before he forced his way out? Honestly? We're supposed to give him credit that we got good value for him? Da fuq? That's on Marks, not Harden.

I'm not giving him credit for us getting good value. I just have no hard feelings. He wasn't here long enough for me to hate, and also, I don't blame him for wanting out.

On the flip side, him wanting out has actually helped to improve the roster. I'll roll the dice with Simmons.

I don't hate Harden either. I just find it funny that I've already seen two different Nets fans talk about how Harden is worse than D-Will. I'm sure there's probably a lot more who hold that opinion on Nets Twitter too.

Probably.

But people need to take a step back. Harden is clearly on the decline. His style of play this year was making our offense flat out terrible. Everyone knew this....so why so mad that he's gone?

Adding the parts that we did plus the picks keeps the championship window open a bit longer.

I would have dumped Brown and Johnson, kept Bembry and ensured Kess gets his converted deal.

Bembry has the best chance at getting claimed, so it may in part be financial considerations. If he's claimed, his remaining guarantee and tax no longer hit us.

This is not a basketball move then.

Tsai can't try to pinch pennies when we are trying to climb out of hole to win a championship.

I mean i get it, but come on. Bembry was a good roleplayer and was athletic.

I just get a kick out of the Nets track record with point guards... Every big name one they get tends to leave in a blaze of glory.

Marbury, Kidd, Deron, Kyrie (not yet at least ), Harden, am I missing anyone?

Makes me appreciate what Devin Harris gave us

For realz man, Devin Harris was a class act that truly wanted to be here and help lead a team.

People forget the ugly ending to the Kidd era too because the good times were so good, but yeah he burned bridges on his way out too.

I don't think KD and Harden had beef, so I'm sure he's a little disappointed but we can still field a championship team if we can get healthy

nets may not win a chip this year but i would put them a the favorites next year.

but if simmons comes back healthy and the vax mandate is lifted, running simmons at point with shooters like kyrie + mills/curry/harris + kd around him could be pretty lethal.

This is a very good trade for us. Though I'm not ecstatic with the return, it's good value at best.

I was initially on the fence with trading Harden as I would like to ride with him this year as we have a greater chance at a title. However, when the reports surfaced that he wants out, I thought it was better for him to be traded instead. We've seen how an unmotivated Harden looks like in Houston, it was also very evident in our last game with Sacramento. I agree with KD, he'd rather play with someone who's "committed", and I don't think James fits that description. I'd rather keep someone who actually wants to be here, than someone who will just go through the motions and bolt in the offseason.

With the trade, we were able to receive key pieces that would somehow augment what's lacking in our team.
Simmons - Defense & Playmaking
Curry - Elite Shooting
Drummond - Big body & Rebounding

While our chances of winning it all this year reduced, as it depends on a combination of factors such as KD's health, Kyrie's part-time status, Ben's ability to play both physically and mentally, Nash's ineptitude, etc. I just look forward and hope for the best.

Worst case scenario, at least we have a 25yo all-star, controlled for 3 years. I'm just hoping that KD remains to be happy, so we can pick up the pieces from this exchange and add more complimentary players to surround him.

Having the best player on the planet (when healthy) is still the best positive for me.

P.S.
I hindsight, we really would've paid/kept Jarrett over Joe. But that's water under the bridge...

I’ll be sad when he retires, which will probably be at some point in the next few years. He’s funny, a straight shooter, and doesn’t take himself seriously. I wouldn’t be surprised if TNT coverage regresses to ABC/ESPN levels when he’s gone. I find everyone, besides Ernie and Candace Parker, to be annoying.
