 KD tried not to laugh but it was impossible. Chuck is a fool

I’ll be sad when he retires, which will probably be at some point in the next few years. He’s funny, a straight shooter, and doesn’t take himself seriously. I wouldn’t be surprised if TNT coverage regresses to ABC/ESPN levels when he’s gone. I find everyone, besides Ernie and Candace Parker, to be annoying.

His comedic wit will be missed. Candice is really good. I wouldn't mind seeing Draymond on the show once he retires.

For those disappointed that Maxey or Thybulle weren’t involved, to me, the draft picks more than make up for it. Definitely wasn’t expecting them to get TWO firsts to use as assets.

The more I think about the roster, the more I get excited. We have got to get Kyrie full time and Harris healthy.

I think we start Kyrie/Seth/Durant/Simmons and we can take our pick at C. Lots of options.

Like many people have said, Ben is in the Draymond role. Facilitate. Defend. Rebound. Durant and Irving are the attackers.

Then we have our shooters: Seth. Patty. Joe Kessler.

I think Goran Dragic is our missing piece.

Kind of a crap shoot I think, as one pick projects to about #22, and one pick has the potential to turn it to almost anything. Either of those guys could wind up being worth way more, or even less then the picks. But I agree that replenishing a couple pick assets always helps.

Also, considering how much Morey had historically wanted for Simmons, I think we kind of lucked out with who we had to offer. Most GM's weren't willing to offer more than pennies on the dollar for Harden, and I think we just dodged a bullet getting rid of him.

So Marks recovered a good chunk of the fortune he traded for Harden, but certainly what's going to make or break this deal is if he can successfully unlock the value of Simmons. And Nash unexpectedly has one last chance to save his bacon as I see it.

Great trade. Bleh. Can't wait to do another song and dance this time again next year.
Just the way Marks envisioned this whole thing panning out I'm sure.
What a completely wasted and sabotaged season it's been.

Sorry, but I have like 0 faith in this team at this point.
After 25 years of being a fan of this franchise you think I'd be used to being let down.

And I don't want to see any paper lineups. I want to see this damn team with EVERYONE, on the floor, in Brooklyn.

I hope it turns around. I really do.

That’s basically how I feel. There’s always something with the Nets. I’ve kinda become a cynic. I’ll believe this team will succeed after it happens lol. I’m tired of having my expectations never come close to being met.

I can get on board with his post. I also think these picks are moved this summer for more peices. Looks like the Nets can defer the first pick to 2023 - Marks has some room to work with. But overall, I agree. The key to this deal is Simmons returning to his All-star form.

Its obvious this trade was meant to punt on this season.

Seems like the Nets felt they had no shot of competing for a title this year. Or you keep Harden.

We will never win with part time Kyrie, mentally recovering Simmons and a 10 seed play in run.

Next year we should have a full training camp with Simmons. Can trade the firsts for more role players. Full time Kyrie.

And pray KD can stay healthy for once.

One off the wall thought I had...

If a star becomes disgruntled, we are a great destination for them with a great asset in hand. Simmons value only goes up from here. Like if Luka wants out or Towns wants out or Tatum wants out... we would be right there as a big time destination with a great asset to send back.

Not that i need to move Simmons, but im trying to see all the angles

I like this trade for both teams.

For the Nets, the offense is set with Kyrie and KD. Ben gives you a guy who can get you opportunistic baskets and make your transition offense better. While Harden is clearly better than Ben, but I do think you won’t max out the talent with Harden, Kyrie and KD because all three needs the ball on offense.

I also like it from a roster structure standpoint. You have lengthy wings in KD and Ben to slowdown Giannis while you have depth at the C position with Drum, LMA and Claxton to slowdown Embiid. While you have knockdown shooters in Seth and Harris in case teams try to zone you up with Ben or Drum being non shooters.

The only downside I see is teams funneling the ball to Ben or Drum via traps where these two guys are bad scorers and FT shooters.

And yes, Ben can help you this season while you have Ben and picks to trade in the offseason in case u want a better fit.

This isnt true at all. first they dont all need the ball. second, they had the greatest offense in NBA history last year and it was even better then that when all 3 played.

I dont think we need to slow down embiid. The 76ers have consistently lost in the playoffs with Embiid going off. I want to stop Harden/Maxey. we have guys to help with that

Won't comment on anything else but since I've seen it mentioned a few times I wouldn't get your hopes up for a small ball C Simmons. Sixers would've loved to have used him in that way and it just didn't work. Can't anchor the defense in the same way that somebody like an undersized Draymond Green can. And frankly isn't that good at guarding people similar-sized/bigger than him. His best defensive traits are being able to guard most SFs/smaller PFs while also being able to stay in front of almost all smaller guards well due to his very quick feet.

Haven't been on here in a while but wassup guys. I am ecstatic about this trade. Harden was dogging it all year, it reminded me too much of Deron Williams 2.0 and that would of been hard to swallow paying him a super duper max while he's playing like half the man he was. Harden is another guy I just don't see winning a chip. He chokes in the playoffs or ends up getting hurt at the wrong times. He hold the ball way too long anyway for the big 3 . He played phenomenal last season but idk what happen now.

Anyway, Simmons is a PERFECT fit. I've been yelling for an athletic wing guy to play alongside KD for years and there is no better fit then Simmons. He's almost as tall as KD but with muscle and athleticism . He's an ALL NBA defender, great passer, great in transition, rebounder slasher etc... He'll be our Jason Kidd on this team with all the scoring and shooting this team has. This kid is only 25 years old with room to grow, Harden is already declining. With Harden/Kyrie/KD as our big 3 our window was 2-3 years, with Simmons now that window grows and also we have a young superstar for more than 5 plus years in his prime assuming everything goes well.

I'm very upset we waived Bembry and we didn't get Thybulle . We have a log jam at center and I'm not sure why we didn't make another minor move for another wing or guard. We'll see if we can grab someone off the buy out market.

https://hoopshabit.com/2021/06/03/sixers-experiment-ben-simmons-center/

leaving Simmons as the small-ball five. Ben Simmons filled the position well as he finished with a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists, two blocks and a steal in a 17-point win to close the series.

So did the experiment work? Yes.

Thanks for playing.
