Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
Chet should be number 1 now that he's shooting over 40% from 3. I'd gamble on him over Jabari Smith.
What about Duke Freshman Trevor Keels. He's 6'5 with an A/T of 2.5, S/To > 1, and is only 18.5. He looks like a 6'5 Kyle Lowry.
If going big, Tristan Vukcevic is playing for Real Madrid and has a good looking stroke from 3.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
Call me crazy, but I still think Caleb Houstan could be in play the way his draft stock has fallen. He was mocked as a lottery pick coming into the season, but has fallen to the 2nd Round now.
He has been inconsistent, but he has great size and upside, and I still think he'd be a great fit with our squad.

You're not crazy but he might end up being Davis Bertans. Is he just as good a prospect as Josh Primo was?
Not sure if he does enough defensively like Franz Wagner did at Michigan. Not sure if he fits the mold. Though if he can guard SG's he can backup there.

Don't think he will be anything special. I think his jump shot is good not great, and his defence good not great. Straight line drive game, not a whole lot of wiggle to his game. Will probably find a place in the league, as long as his jump shot falls as it's easy to see him stuck in a low usage role where primary function is to hit open 3s. He's shown he can knock 3s in volume in a single game which is a good sign, but he's also had a lot of stinker shooting nights, but he's young and form is very nice, so he does have the potential to possibly be elite or close to elite at spot up shooting, and that's probably where the intrigue lies. I like Champagne better as a player of similar size and role projection.

Sounds like Davis Bertans with average defense. Actually maybe he's Duncan Robinson 2.0?

I don't know a whole lot about his defense, to be honest. I definitely don't think he's Franz
I just think we give players a hard time and put unnecessary pressure on them to be "1 and Done" when in reality some could benefit from an extra year of college. Just look at the jump guys like Ivey or even Mathurin made this year.
Caleb seems like a little bit of a project, but he's is averaging 10.8 PTS / 40.6 FG% / 36.8 3P% / 73.8 FT% as a freshman. Those aren't terrible numbers, but he has struggled a bit with some low scoring outcomes.
I think he'd have space as a catch and shoot guy.

Fair enough, His shooting is the one kicker where he may exceed my expectations and prove me wrong about him. I feel like we could do a lot worse for a pick in early 2nd round, but at same time I just don't see a very high ceiling and I'm starting to like Masai's homerun hitter approach. Basically, I'd rather strike out on a Banton type pick than go with the guy that I don't think will move the needle at any point. But, I could very well be wrong on Houstan's upside. I am kind of being proven wrong by Gary at the moment, who I thought was 6th man material, but now I realize is strictly just needing to add some passing balance/ a little pick and roll to his game to be a very good 2 guard in this league.

As a Michigan fan I watch almost all their games. He’s an odd prospect in the sense that he shows great flashes but also makes some dumb mistakes. There’s no doubt that he’s got the potential to be a great shooter. If he can become a Duncan Robinson or Dunleavy type that’s a W. At 31, I’d give him a serious look but idk if he fits in with the defensive identity we’re going towards
I also kind of feel he might stay another year at Michigan to help his stock. He needs more develop and could probably still become a late lotto pick in next years draft
He had a great game against #3 Purdue last night so maybe he rides that momentum throughout the end of the season and brings his stock back up. Lots of questions with him as of right now

Traded back in the draft and the Tari Eason dream is dead. All-in on Dereon Seabron now.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
Raptors seem all in on the versatile position less basketball identity so im just going to go ahead and look for those kind of players in the 2nd round. Looks like the raptors have scouted him too

I think we are going to look at an older player who can still get molded. Likely a junior or senior in college.

Game looks too easy for him.... Looks super smart. Easily draft him if he's there

In Raptor Ball I Trust

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
Might Drop:
Walker Kessler (hope he does poorly at the combine)
Nikola Jovic (tells teams he won't sign if in 1st round and just stay in Europe)
Dropped but was once considered 1st round talent:
Julian Champagnie
Caleb Houstan
I would be happy with any of those 4.

Raps love a Canadian, need a shooter, long length and are picking 31st now. I could see them making a promise and just developing him slowly.
Where's the D?
