My guess is it's because Jokic is gonna be like a little flashier version of Duncan there.

LeGM has his faults when compared to other GM's, but he's pretty darn good compared to other players.

Snagging Garland insures the Cavs fans in the crowd will give his team all the support, and given his media savvy he'll likely have the locals bowing to him for the weekend as the greatest Cavalier is welcomed in to the pantheon of NBA greats.
