Spurs have a gaping hole at PF and Collins is a very solid player but I really don't see a path to a deal that doesn't at least include Vassell and I would hate to part with him.

Considering how productive John Collins has been for years and how many other teams have shown interest in him, it is difficult to see a Spurs deal getting done without one of Primo, Vassell or the SAS first round pick this year.

It simply wouldn't make sense to send our top trade chip to you and not get one of yours back.

Understandable. I would be open to trading this years 1st if it came down to that or Vassell. The draft is always a gamble and unless you have a top 2 or 3 pick guaranteed I'd prefer to have the established talent. Though i highly doubt the Spurs feel that way.

On the other hand - if all it took to get White was a first would you pull the trigger?

RealGM Wiretap wrote:The Atlanta Hawks continue to monitor the trade market, but reports of an imminent trade appear to have quieted following a string of strong play.

"They remain active in trade talks, but don't appear to feel the same urgency to do something as they did two weeks ago, sources say," wrote Zach Lowe.

Based on multiple reports last month, the Hawks appeared to be strongly considering a trade of John Collins. The Hawks also traded away Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks, who was seeking a fresh start elsewhere.
Travis Schlenk also openly questioned whether he made a mistake in retaining the Atlanta core that reached the Eastern Conference Finals.

Did you guys read that the NY Knicks coach reportedly did not want Cam Reddish and that the Knicks made the trade anyway?

Cam has not been playing much.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Me, too. But I don't think they'll trade him now.

Welp, Pels traded Josh Hart in a deal for McCollum.

Yes, I don't believe Coach will be around much longer. The Knicks are going to move Randle, so they will need to focus on their young talent, and will probably be more focused on offense.
Cam wanting to go to the Knicks didn't make much sense for his career and seemed to be more want driven.

I don't think/remember that Cam specifically 'asked' to go to the Knicks...Schlenk said he did what was best for the Hawks and sent him where he got the best value for him....a first round pick.

Not sure what it would have cost, but some guys like White or Craig could have bring some help.
Would ge good to get Ross from ORL

We could also try Jalen Brunson now that DAL got Dinwiddie, but he's UFA this summer and looks like he want 20M/yr

Not sure if we needed Harrell, but he's playing great this season, has a real impact, and Vernon Carey, Ish Smith and a second round pick to get him looks like a steal by CHA

I was betting hard money Gallo would get traded, but obviously the value wasn't there for Schlenk.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
