Kyrie isn't hurting anyone being unvaccinated. The whole time he was out covid was spreading all over the league like a wildfire amongst the vaccinated.

You didn't respond to anything I said as far as being a good teammate and helping your team. I don't care about his vax status in a vacuum, I'm talking about the impact on his team. Regardless of the what or why, he's choosing to bail on his team and teammates.

Well I don't think he should have to make any medical decision based on anyone else's feelings. Unless you really think he's putting their lives in danger which clearly it makes no difference if they're all vaccinated and seem to all catch covid easily anyways.

His unvaccinated status changes nothing regarding anyone else's health.

Regardless of what people feel about the vaccines, there are plenty of instances, for right or for wrong, where players based medical decisions on the benefit to the team. I mean Ronnie Lott amputated his pinky finger to play in the playoffs for the 49ers, and countless other players, including Kyrie, have undergone surgeries that have inherent risks, to keep on playing, all the while listening to the advice of doctors. Now im not saying cutting off a finger is a smart thing to do at all, but getting a vaccination is no where near that drastic, based on the BILLIONS of vaccine shots that have been safely administered.

Players always talk about going all in for the team, and sometimes foolishly say things like they "will take a bullet" or "go to war" with their teammates, but if you have someone on the team that wont take a overwhelmingly proven safe shot in order to be in the trenches with his teammates, plus the other times he has sat out games for non injury reasons the last few years, why should you commit to him when he isn't truly committed to the team, regardless of his reasons.

Could you imagine someone like Shaq or Lebron or Curry give up a prime year of not only their careers, but of their teammates', because they wont take a shot over a reason they wont clearly articulate?

In the end, i dont think the frustration with Kyrie from someone like Harden is because Harden or others are so pro vax in principal, its more "man you wont even take this like all of us have even if it means the success or failure of something we all have invested in "? Especially after he has trusted these same doctors advice in all of the procedures and surgeries he has gone through?

Pretty much.

I'm not even convinced Kyrie ever believed the Earth is flat rather than that all precepts should be questioned. Which doesn't seem completely unreasonable, but it's basically a denial that anything can be a fact or a truth, or that there's a well established process for supporting/challenging theories that doesn't include retweeting random thoughts from twitter.

Kyrie legit used to believe the Earth was flat. Sounds like he was enlightened on that but he's still going strong on other conspiracy theories.

I know what you mean, but sometimes (lot of times) grade schoolers (between ages of 6 to 17 ) these kids can have a basic level of maturity that is respectable. I was a typical immature kid all the way through my 20s however, my two nephews ever since they were in school or perhaps even earlier have a sense of maturity, consideration of others, social timing, and a discernment of knowing what/where to pick your battles is amazing. Kids these days lot of them are mature.

Conspiracy theorists. Im sure there is the rare case when they are valid, however from what I see, someone says they are a conspiracy theorist or believe in certain popular conspiracy theories, I automatically think "guy is uneducated properly, but gets all his info from movies and the web".

I doubt he's really scared of Kyrie not being vaccinated. I mean who at this point hasn't had Covid? I don't even know anyone anymore that hasn't had it.

He wasn't scared of Kyrie lol. It's just, imagine your team has lost 10 in a row and getting beat down every night and your max allstar point guard chooses to sit at home and watch on TV rather than going to Walgreens for 5 minutes. It has to cause friction with teammates and the franchise.

And yes I know people who are against getting vaccinated see it as some major stand Kyrie is taking and respect him for it. But people who are vaccinated see it as absurdly stupid. And being a bad teammate. If you go to BK to play with Kyrie and he doesn't care about winning, why should you want to be there and help him win while he's sitting on he couch?

I would have been f'ing fuuuuuurious if I was his teammate. There was a dude on the Nets board who continually swore that everybody on the team supported him, and even before Harden bolted there was just no freaking way that was true. It couldn't be. Not for a stupid-ass reason like refusing to get an overwhelmingly safe vaccine that has prevented millions of deaths around the world. Ali going to jail because he refused to get drafted and fight in Vietnam? OK, fine. But not something that dumb.

I don't think anybody expects these guys to be robots and think/do nothing but basketball 24/7. Outside interests & causes are fine. But even if you throw out the fans, you still have a responsibility to the inner circle -- coaches, front office, support staff and especially your teammates -- to show up and do a job every day. Refusing to do that for the flimsiest of reasons is the epitome of living up your own a-hole. Straight-up selfish.

Kyrie's an adult and he's free to make his own health decisions, and he's responsible to himself first and foremost.

If I was his age and didn't feel like I would be risking other people's health ... I might had even done the same. But there's the catch, unless he's going to properly wear an N95 when he's out in public and playing basketball games he is risking the health of the people he comes in to contact with.

That's selfish.

Kyrie reeks of emo kids in my highschool days who mistakenly think acting weird = smart/deep, instead they come off as pretentious and acting weird for the sake of appearing edgy. That's basically Kyrie except he's what, 30 now?

It doesn't take a "crazy conspiracy theory" to make one weary about putting something into their body that was rushed to market. And the people that are saying to take it, it's safe, are the very people making money off of this drug. Have your own opinion. Fine. But to make others that don't share your opinion out to be crazy is just straight trash.

I’m not telling you how to think. I’m telling you what I think about what you’re thinking. I.e. it’s stupid, ignorant and not based on science and fact.

You've managed to avoid a personal attack by calling out what the poster is saying rather than the poster himself. But we can still be way less rude about it. No reason to get into insulting flame wars. Thanks.

Well, let's be clear. We're lied to a lot. For our own good, or someone else's own good. It's not a conspiracy theory to point that out, it's a fact. The trick is telling the difference between the truths and the lies and understanding the intent behind the lies.

When the US invaded Iraq to stop the spread or use of WMD, we knew it wasn't true because one of the chief weapon inspectors for the UN told us it wasn't true. His statements weren't attacked, rather he was attacked on a personal level and discredited.

You mean the guy that averaged 27,4,4 on 47/41/94 splits and hit a game 7 winning three to win a championship, on the unanimous MVP and the best regular season team of all time?

Yeah, LeBron “managed” to win a title with that guy.

Yeah, you got me dude. As evidence, the Kyrie Irving tour has been so successful everywhere else without Lebron

The latter part sounds like the definition of being stupid

Imagine having an ego and brain that thinks you just know better than all these scientists and world leaders who created and pushed a global vaccination process, key word - global. you might call me a stupid sheep, but I admit I am not the smartest guy and there are people far smarter than me who know better, especially in a field like, I dont know, medical science? When this guy arent vocationing mid season and keeping evil spirits away, he tweets how he knows what a real god of the universe is and picks and chooses what scientific FACTS to believe and not. Thats ladies and gentlemen is a MORON.
