The basically sums up the Knicks current FO. I'd have preferred that they just come out and say "sorry Knick fans everywhere, we **** up big time overpaying for role players, it won't happen again!"

You know what? I was thinking about this last night while sitting on my throne at home taking care of some serious business and realized this... "Holy frick, this is Scott Layden all over again!!"

For those too young to remember Scott Layden...he was one of the many AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Knicks GM's. His specialty was grossly overpaying role players when what he needed most was top tier talent and cap flexibility. He misjudged how far along the team was and what this team really needed to take the next step. He apparently felt they were closer to contention than they really were and loaded up on veteran role players for unnecessarily large contracts in Shandon "(the original) Stone Hands" Anderson, Howard "Hey, my bad Antonio, I didn't realize I was going to land on your surgically repaired knees in preseason" Eisley and Clarence "3 Chins on the back of the head" Weatherspoon.

Now that Knick fans have witnessed Trump as President, maybe there will be broader understanding of what it must be like to work for a boss who just wants you to tell him he’s #1, we’re #1, right away boss, everything is awesome boss!

You’re right about the Layden similarity. But also it’s been 20+ continuous years of acting (and spending) like we’re good when we’re not.

Remember how those years ended—he got fired and the next regime signed Washed Amare before trading away every last asset for Carmelo.

Leon has his playbook. Let’s see if he can pull off his fake superstar acquisition before Dolan J Trump says “you’re fired!”

I see you have washed Isiah Lord Thomas from your memory. Fair enough. I'm not gonna pry to far with this.

They've all blended in as one nebulous cloud of yes-man incompetence TBH.

RJ & Obi + filler + picks for Mitchell
Re-signing Mitch Robinson

And trotting out...

Mitch, Randle, Cam, Burks, Mitchell @ PG w/ Rose ,Grimes, and Taj on the bench squad.

Maybe a 50-win treadmill squad, if there was one. And Leon and Dolan call it a job well done because they got two borderline all-stars in Randle and Donavan leading the way... oh well. Might as well prepare for it and hope that we go after a younger guy like DMitch instead of an over-the-hill guy like Dame Dollah or Beal.

Agreed. Mitchell is a nice player and I’d take him but this idea he’s as a proven superstar who can defnitely be the best player on a title team is a bit much.

I don’t see him as that level of player at all

I mean he'd be the best PG this team has had for the last several years...and Schroeder is generally considered to be lacking in his PG skills and was basically just a throw in in the Boston-Houston trade. If Houston buys him out (as expected), sure can't hurt. At least he's healthy unlike Walker and Rose.

Bold move by management to do nothing at the deadline to trade Grimes, Dallas 23 , NY 23, Toppin, Cam , Fournier and Noel for Mitchell

And Thibsdale would actually play him since he's a veteran

Imagine the number of draft picks we could've gotten from Dallas for KP if Mills and Perry hadn't had this absurd delusion of signing Kevin Durant in free agency (thus asking Dallas to absorb Timmy and Burke).

The Knicks won the trade yet the trade was only 50% of what it could've been.

Knicks went from asking for Booker AD Mitchell Tatum to Dsjr and 2 protected first 5 years from trade. I'm sure the league felt the same way like hali trade.

I'll never cheer for the Nets but I'm gonna be quite honest.

I always liked the Seattle Supersonics franchise. Just their colors and court design and stuff.

If they come back as an expansion team I may just let go of the Knicks permanently. It's been 21 years of disgraceful times with James Dolan and that won't change until he's dead or sells the team.

We should all be CLE & MEM fans this year

Sold! The Hornets look pretty fun too.

What I’ve seen in Leon Rose is more of the same in the vein of previous administrations. Some acumen for drafting but when we saw Brad Steven’s, a defensive minded coach, not offer Fournier a contract and pay the Thunder to take Walker off their roster, their additions to a Thib’s team was illogical and makes me question Rose’s basketball intellectual capacity. I’m cheering for Simmons to get his head on straight and do his damage in locking down Harden and/or Giannis in the playoffs as best as can be expected while providing some of the best help defense I’ve witnessed. I also liked the Nets picking up Seth Curry who I thought was worth signing out of the G-league, and Drummond. Several buyout defensive glue guys could seriously help this squad reach higher than most would believe.

Mark originally called the knicks asking about timmy, KP was offered during said call, I doubt draft compensation wouldve been that much better without burkes. Perhaps we wouldve gotten more for frank another player that he wanted, but I doubt it

Is Schroder an improvement over Kemba? I would have to think so. Maybe we buyout Kemba and sign Schroder? A Rose/Schroder PG tandem isn’t THAT bad.

Don’t @ me!

Should he become available, I hope they don’t just trade for Brogdon and then say backcourt done.

In an ideal world, I’d get another starting PG and make Brogdon a 6th man.

We have had horrendous backcourt play for years save some solid seasons from role guys. I want an awesome 3 guard rotation at the minimum

I don’t know who this other starting PG is. But one might become available after the draft / FA. Sexton? Brunson?

Go get him.

For once in their pathetic lives, it’s time for the Knicks to put ALL the resources into the backcourt. And not for band aid bum ass vets
