Re: Around the NBA - Post Trade Deadline
NoDope I would imagine Embiid would guard Giannis and visa versa. In that case oof I don’t know but that would be a tough matchup for Giannis considering their other option is Bobby Portis who would probably be matched up with Tobias.
That would be a really good series
Maxey vs Jrue
Harden vs Middleton
Tobias vs Portis
Giannis vs Embiid
That series can go either way would love to see it

Re: Around the NBA - Post Trade Deadline
We started that year 4-18 under Fizdale.
Mike Miller played for wins like his career depended on it and pulled us up into the mid-lotto behind such unforgettable stars as Bobby Portis.
Meanwhile, Charlotte gets Lamelo and we get Obi. It’s just one season, so the odds were never great. But it’s the same story as countless other seasons including THIS ONE, where we will surely see future stars drafted at the top of a lottery we won’t be in.
"Sell the team. Sell the team. Sell the team."

This is true however we also easily could have righted the wrong and traded up and declined to do so
Also worth mentioning that we had a tough strength of schedule the rest of the way when Covid cancelled the season early. The universe hates this team and will literally plague the earth and kill millions of people to make sure we don’t get a generational PG talent.
And even despite all that we could have just drafted Haliburton and had a nice 2 way PG. Or Tyrese Maxey.
ALSO: Charlotte had the 8th worst record and leapfrogged us up 5 spots to 3rd. We had the 6th worst and dropped to 8th. Again, we are cursed.

wash out your mouth. The player to whom you are referring is already NBA-champion: ring-holder Bobby Portis, and is a key player in the, actually completely legit, Bucks's attempt to defend their title.
not understanding the genuine value of Portis is one of the Knicks FO's more idiotic mistakes.

None of the teams in the top 3 were moving those picks and there was so much rumor around those picks and how those teams wanted to move them yet not one did and reports came out that the demands were extremely high to move into the top 3 despite many teams being interested in doing so. So how was it so easy to trade up? This is fake news

so you’re saying you don’t believe the massive amounts of rumors that the top picks were desperately wanting to be moved but you do believe a rumor saying the demands were extremely high
However high they were it would have been worth it. They were available

I’m not sure about the fit with Garland b/c of his style of play, they’re going to have to stagger these guys. but here he is already securing Ws for them.

Yeah I choose to believe what the outcome leads us to believe. "Desperately wanting to be moved" "easily could have got them" yet not one of those teams traded their pick. You mean to tell me 26 other teams had no easy package to offer these desperate teams to get their pick?

Re: Around the NBA - Post Trade Deadline
I listened to multiple post trade deadline podcasts today and a lot of ppl are pretty high on BOS not being such an easy out come playoff time. They think the defense will carry them.
So here’s an offensive highlight.
I think Smart is still waiting in the arena for the pass
Nice debut for White

Because teams thought the draft was weak and didn’t want to take the risk because they didn’t realize what was at stake. But whatever the price the stone cold fact is that they were being shopped and available for some unspecified price and in hindsight that price would have been worth it

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor reported Wednesday morning that the Bulls may be willing to trade Carter Jr., and the No. 4 pick in exchange for the No. 2 pick. If the Bulls pull that off, O'Connor reports that Chicago would select Wiseman with the pick, who would immediately fill Carter's role in the starting lineup.
The Celtics are reportedly trying to move as far up as the top three of the draft, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times, but in order to convince one of Minnesota, Golden State or Charlotte to trade out of those spots, they probably have to come to the table with more to offer than just three first-round picks in Wednesday's draft.
Bulls with WCJ and the 4th pick couldn't move up. Celtics with 3 first round picks couldn't move up.
Knicks could have easily moved up though

The reality is we didn't have the assets to move up and also it wouldn't have been smart to do so anyway. We were supposed to walk out of that draft with Obi, Maxey and Quickly. We miscalculated and missed out on Maxey by 2 picks then just settled on Quickly. Had we landed Maxey at 23 we would have had an awesome draft not counting Quickly who's a scrub but Maxey and Obi would have been nice.

Carter Jr and the 4th isn’t worth it and the 3 Boston picks they are talking about were 14, 26 and 30 which is also not a lot
We had 8 and 23, plus we could have traded every first round pick in the future and every Dallas pick and every player on the team and the property rights to MSG and every dollar in Dolan’s pocket. When Michael Jordan is available in 1984 or Lebron in 2003 or Lamelo in 2020 you don’t ask questions you just do it!

8 and 23 couldnt even get us to 5 much less top 3. golden state needed an actual gamechanger like a ready-made franchise player, jordan was looking for a gamechanger in the draft and lamelo was high profile enough and minnesota wasnt gonna trade barring they got a ready made player that we didnt have
