Read the whole article. Woj, doubled down the whole time prior to the trade that there were no discussions. He only changed his stance on the day of the trade, but said a formal request was not made.

The article shows both of these were not true. Discussions had been going on for a few days, and Harden Facetimed with Marks and Tsai to say he wanted a trade.

My thoughts? Because he wouldn't have an excuse when they didn't win a title. He's mentally not cut out for the limelight. That and Kyrie is an odd dude.

I think Kyrie shouldn't be blameless at all, probably still takes most of it, but I agree that we have to recognise at this point that Harden has a history of running away from adversity and failing to work it out with other stars. It's genuinely a struggle to remember all the stars he's played with, and coaches + stars he's thrown under the bus. One of them is starring on the best or second best team in the league right now. Anyone would be upset with Kyrie, but did everyone lead the charge against Kyrie? By all accounts it was just Harden.

Its not that crazy for him to do.

Durant deserves major blame for not getting on Kyrie to get vaccinated. In the end if Durant had gone to the F.O. and told them to trade Irving in an addition by subtraction deal to keep Harden the latter would've stayed. Sadly Irving's antics have been so bad to the point no team in the league would want to deal with him as he's a proven headache who managed to piss away a 4/186M extension that the Nets ultimately rescinded(same extension Durant signed).

Ultimately this is Harden's last shot to show that he can be that guy who can lead a team to a title. He's got the team he wanted with a guy in Embiid who he's been a big fan of. The good thing is he's opted into his deal so it gives Philly some time to add other pieces around him but seriously Harden needs to get that rear of his into gear and shed some weight in order to minimize the increase in injury.

Somehow I can't help it but Doc Rivers will find a way to screw this up. The dude has perfected the art of the choke to the point he could submit paperwork to put a patent on it.

Dude, you realize the article is by Woj himself, right? There were no real discussions between the teams prior to deadline day. Even the facetime part is in that context...

Finally, as Thursday's trade deadline neared, Harden spoke up and told Marks and Tsai that he preferred to play for the Sixers. For weeks, Harden hoped he could avoid the public backlash of asking out of his second franchise in consecutive years, but his passive-aggressiveness hadn't worked in selling the Nets on the idea they had to move him.

eh, not really. Even if he did sometimes, it wasn't nearly as frequently. In fact I remember KD getting doubled at times, not Harden, when they were on the court together.

There is a reason Harden only got 6 shots in his final game. He was double teamed literally every single PnR, so basically every time down the court. Nash, the coaching staff, and the Nets had no answer to it apparently. I don't blame him for leaving this mess.

Now I can't wait until him and Embiid start feuding. Troell loves twitter and will take him down hard when that time comes.

He turned down the max over the summer to leave himself free to leave after the season...
