Re: Offseason Brogdon sweepstakes
I think Washington actually makes a lot of sense now:
Washington trades: KCP, Avdija
Washington receives: Brogdon, 2 2nds
Washington gets a backcourt partner for Beal and a reasonable third option.
Indiana trades: Brogdon
Indiana receives: expiring, Avdija
Indiana gets a young combo-forward to go with their guards, should fit whether they draft a power forward or center in the draft.
Team X trades: expiring, 2 2nds
Team X receives: KCP
And someone will want KCP as a win-now piece.

Interesting framework
Brogdon probably with more than Avdija though

Can the Knicks get in on Brogdon? What would it take?

Really? I was thinking very much the opposite. Figure Washington only considers something like this if they draft another SF.

My pipedream would be to trade him into cap space for 2023 draft capital.NYG wrote:Can the Knicks get in on Brogdon? What would it take?

Westbrook plus unprotected picks in 2027 and 2029 for Hield and Brogdon?

Oh, most likely not. Westbrook would be a buyout for us, so I don’t think we’d be looking at such far off return for our guys. Brogdon might could return 2 1sts equivalent value himself. So here, Buddy would just turn into a massive buyout. I think we’d rather just keep with Buddy or move him for a flawed biput somewhat equal player at another position. But also, we don’t necessarily need to trade both Buddy and Brogdon.

Hence Haliburton.

I was talking more in terms of a team that trades for Brogdon. But yes, I think Hali is an elite floor general.
still learning the game

Lakers hire D'Antoni
Westbrook's expiring (bought out), '27 1st and '29 1st for Brogdon and Hield
AD/LeBron/THT/Hield/Brogdon
6th man - Nunn

I have Indy wanting help sooner than 5 years out. And not having interest in giving usable guys up for a massive buyout. Especially since it would only cut one year off of Buddy’s deal.

Who are some bad contract better players that would come with more current assets in a RW expiring, '27 LAL 1st, '29 LAL 1st via 3 team deal?

Oh, i think La would have to figure out how to give more value. Those two picks, while possibly being a gold mine, also could turn into almost nothing if LA can keep up their legacy of having stars sign there. I wouldn’t imagine La would be able to end up with Brogdon in that kind of deal is what I’m saying.

Just reading through the first 20 posts makes me realize most of you are way overvaluing Brogdon. We are talking about one of the most injury prone players in the nba that will also be 30 at the start of next season.

We've picked up enough expiring contracts to be able to keep Brogdon and Hield even if they are the second unit. There won't be a fire sale.

LA's front office the past 10 years has been closer to Knicks/Kings level. Lebron bailed them out and they are still a mess.

I just read a post on a pro LAL web site very similar to what you wrote about the NYK and LAL Front Offices.

I like the destination and the fit..but are there no lame Wizards on the wing?
Gafford/Hachimura to Pistons..
Cade/Draft/Bey/Hachi/Gafford
Hayes/FA/Diallo/Olynyc/Stewart
Grant to Pacers ...
Hali/Hield/Duarte/Grant/Turner
Brogdon to Wizards..
Brogdon/Beal/Avdija/Kuzma/KP
1+1=11

I don’t think the idea is to deal Sabonis for Hali to replace Brogdon, and then to just turn Brogdon into Grant. We’re getting younger. I don’t think now’s the time to go all in and trade for Grant to then have to extend him at a huge number. Plus, with our top pick, there an awful lot of 4’s available, so I really don’t love the idea of burying them behind a ball dominant 4 in Grant on a new, massive deal.

Re: Offseason Brogdon sweepstakes
We need a 3 not a 4 either in this trade or in the draft.
