Re: Tari Eason
His wingspan looks ridiculous and the defense looks great in the small sample so far. Anyone see a Jonathan Isaac type translation to the NBA game for him? Great matchup with Auburn on Wednesday, looking forward to this one.

I see more Jerami Grant? Haven't watched a ton, but the way he moves sometimes reminds me of Denver era Grant.

You have my attention. Not sure on a comp, but he might be undervalued at 16th I think.

Re: Tari Eason
Should be in the discussion for a top 10 pick at this point, If I'm picking from #7 onwards I'm giving him a serious look.
And yes he does move strikingly similar to Grant

Big shooting gains from abymsal to meh is a good sign for his ability to improve/work ethic, even if it is mitigated by him being an older prospect.

Re: Tari Eason
So, Eason is now 4th in BPM (behind only Edey, K Murray and Chet), top 25 in OBPM, 7th in DBPM. His OREB/BLKS/STLS are off the charts for a wing player and his outside shooting is coming along. I'm a believer in his shooting potential, FT% is up near 80 now, I think he'll be fine in that department. His stats are super eye popping when you consider how high his usage rate is. I think he is really underrated given his productivity + physical profile. I suppose the concern is whether he has the ball/playmaking skills to play as a wing or whether he will be pigeonholed as a 4, but for me, I see really high level potential here

Re: Tari Eason
I can buy his playmaking.
Not as a #1 option but I've seen him make enough good reads to think he can be functional within an offence. The ball handling needs work though.

so he's now 3rd in BPM (behind Chet and Kessler), 7th in OBPM, 7th in DBPM (only player in top 10 for both)
He's also 31st in steal rate with a super high OREB BLK rate for a big wing, all while keeping his foul rate fairly low.
Up to 61% TS, 35% 3pt on 29% USG rate.
His block and steal rates and general defensive activity levels are just off the charts when you consider his offensive load. Its mind boggling.
Crazy production and potential as a big wing, if he can improve his ball handling/playmaking the sky is the limit. The wingspan only being +1" (it seems longer by the eye test ngl) is a little off putting but it doesn't seem to effect him functionally, though that may change at the NBA level.
The fact that the last ESPN mock has him at 34th (in a fairly weak draft after that top few selections), and Duren at 4th is just really, really confusing to me. In THIS draft, I don't see how he's not a top 10 pick, let alone not a lottery pick.

wait, so now it's a weak draft? Is that the consensus from the same people that get it wrong every year? I'd say it's well above average. Better than 2016 and 2020, on par with 2019. Remember, we haven't even had a tournament yet. There's seemingly a guy or two "scouts" aren't paying attention to who become household names and lottery picks. Then there's the lack of scouting and reporting on guys simply because of COVID and its effect on the game. Next year's draft is ridiculous though so if you're comparing it to 2021 and 2023 I could see why you'd maybe think it's weak but it's really just weak-er

maybe weak is too harsh, but the point is the same for me, its not an ultra strong draft class like last year or potentially next year. He should absolutely be in the top 10 discussion of this draft, ESPN having him at 34th makes me question how much attention they actually put into their work

so last year LSU was 250th in DRTG, this year after adding Eason they have one of the best defenses in the past 10 years

Re: Tari Eason
If Portland isn't expecting to deal Dame, I feel like they'll take two forwards to go between their guards (Dame, Simons, Hart) and Nurkic, where they only have Nassir Little really, which is to say 2 of Murray, Eason and Griffin. Eason just looks ready to be an overall solid 3 next season and I'm not sure you can really say that about anyone else. Kings need one desperately too.

Re: Tari Eason
Just catching up on him, not particularly high as some, not low either. He's a 3-4 opposed to 4-3. Reminds me of lesser version of Draymond. Not as explosive, limited scoring option but decent set shooter, solid defender.
He really excels in transition. His lack of lift in the half court limits his offensive and defensive potential to a degree. I think he struggles to score on NBA bigs in the paint and decent wing defenders on the perimeter.
I don't know about top ten, but you take him in the late lotto if you're somebody like the Hawks.

I’ve never viewed him as a top 10 guy, but he’s playing himself into a potential top 10 slot. The production is just so impressive.

Kid has Star athleticism, explosion, and aggression. Flashes high IQ too but he tries to do too much and forced the issue. He’s all right hand but he will figure it out. He strikes me as a player that will need strong star vet leadership to show him the way. If he were drafted by a team like the Suns or Dubs I think he’d get that player leadership and become a star.

Don't think he gets all the way down to the Dubs, but I'd be on board for sure.
