Well that was a tough loss, the main issues obviously being the bench and our weak presence in the paint, but Doncic missing a wide open Powell in the paint for the last play really hurts. A pass to Dwight for a dunk would have been the right play but why wasn't he calling for the ball ?

That pass would have been intercepted because Coffey already ran to Powell to cover him. And with almost 3 guys on Luka, i'm not sure he had a good vision of where Powell was.

It's like in those prime Kobe days when the entire world plus aliens knew who will take the shot. LAC anticipated what will happen and almost didn't even bother guarding anyone else. I think Kidd could have made it so Bullock would get the last shot.

This is why I’m not so down on the trade. THJ is out and Porzingis plays maybe half the time. I think that the Mavs have pretty good defensive players but they don’t have anyone who can score the ball. Powell, Kleiber, DFS, etc. struggle to score. The hope is that either Dinwiddie or Bertrans can give them something. If they can’t then the front office is going to have to retool the team because Luka can’t score half the team’s points every game.

This game showed how new additions can be essential.

Bertrans can make 3 3-pointers with closed eyes and Dinwiddie is class better than Mavs bench at the moment.
