Absolutely, and great to see CJ ball out too.

If we'd have lost it'd have been the perfect tank night!

Is this a DRAFT thread, or a TANK thread? Two very different things IMO. Oh, well... Hopefully we get two great lotto selections this summer to add to what looks to be a fairly solid core already, and add some size down low to help Nurkic. Overall, our roster looks nice to me: Strong starting 5(w/ or w/o Dame), with a strong 10-14. A couple good picks, plus a couple good F/A and things are definitely starting to look up.

Still wish we could have gotten the package that went to the NETS though. Adding Simmons/Drummond plus Curry(not so much) and two more FRPs, would have been much more exciting to me going forward, than the Dame drama that is sure to come. We would have been rebuilt by game one of next season, but hence... the long, Kobe-like ending to Dame's career may take priority.

Considering you are using the thread to talk about trades, trades which literally could not be completed anymore, I'd say it's a thread about pretty much all connected to the draft and our picks plus the prospects for the future. Considering where we end up in the draft affects the prospects we draft and who is available, I think it's probably okay to talk about where we end up in the draft and the current circumstances surrounding those.

I really do hope we get a chance to draft a Jabari or a Chet, though. And use the second pick on a long wing player or big two guard to shore up that rotation for now and in the future.

Likely Portland will find a way to win enough games to not finish with enough combinations and will end
up with two picks in the mid-late lottery. We'll end up with a pair of 19 year old projects to add depth
up front for Portland can certainly use one of the centers if Nurkic leaves in free agency.

Team is in flux and Portland's need would certainly change if the team listens to offers for Dame for what
if the Knicks decide in order to really compete in the East with strong teams in Brooklyn, Philly and Boston,
decide they need to pay Portland's price to get Dame.

These are my favorite players in this draft, if we could snag two of them I'd call it a major win.

Jabari Smith
AJ Griffin

Jean Montero fits a certain profile...

We have replensihed our stock of decently sized forwards (Sans Hart, but he plays bigger), but I still really like AJ with the lower of our lotto picks.

Chet + AJ would be my ideal draft at this time. Chet + Brown my 2nd ideal class and Chet + Duren my distant 3rd.

wouldn't mind a center prospect as well. there may be a few at 10-15. Be so great to have two lotto picks!

If we don’t pick in the top 3, Any 2 of Ivey, Griffin, Mathurin, or Davis would set us up for years on the perimeter.

Trade Dame...let's get more picks for this year and next! This is the reboot we have been gifted right now! Hopefully we don't piss it away. And I love and respect what Dame has done here. But business is business.

I really could see Portland (if they had two mid to late lottery picks) use one to draft a European player
like Nikola Jovic, who is similar to Franz Wagner (Magic) who might make Jonathan Isaac expendable.

One can readily see Portland using one of the lottery picks + TPE to get someone who would be more ready
to play in 2022/23. I would avoid Isaac who is always injured and Jerami Grant who is going to want too
much money.

I want picks and potential star for dame. If it’s just picks the picks better be a darn good package like a top 3 pick if it’s this draft plus some future picks (5 firsts total) and preferably not all picks from the team he’s going to but if it’s the knicks i would take that flyer easily because they tend to be great at finding a way to stink

There’s no reason we can’t put 2 athletic potential all star caliber wings next to Dame and not be successful next year. Everyone saying we should trade Dame should think about what that would be like, first.

Dame/Simons
Simons/ Ivey/ Johnson
Hart/Little/ Griffin
Winslow/Brown
Nurk/

That’s scary, especially in Billups system. We’d be number in transition points easily.

That team is in the play in at best IMO.

We should package one of the picks w/ the TPE or Bledsoe/Keon for a upper tier forward and use the other pick on BPA IMO.

I really like the idea of Nurk and Duren combo. Jalen is a work-in-progress but as a backup for a few years to Nurkic he could develop slowly and be given a simply role (Defend, rebound and roll on PNRs). Sign Nurkic to a 3 year deal and when that expires Duren will ideally be ready for the starting role and potentially an Ayton level guy IMO.

The way things are going, that team, minus Dame and the lottery picks are looking like a play in as is... 2 way wings with star potential are the most valuable players IMO and loading up on them could make us contenders while they're still on rookie deals if you pair then with Dame.

It’s really irritating we can’t even tank right. I think we would’ve better off not doing anything at the deadline and blowing it up at the draft, which is crazy.
