I feel bad for Bengals fans because I know exactly how they feel right now.
The 49ers didn't have enough in the secondary to finish off the Chiefs two years ago in the super bowl and that was pretty much the same case with Cincinnati's secondary. The fact the Bengals were playing a ton of zone coverage on that Rams game winning drive was pretty telling.

Re: OT: Super Bowl LVI Thread
- I would have liked to see Aaron Donald get Super Bowl MVP, but Kupp was a fine choice too. I get tired though of defensive contributions in football getting minimized though, especially guys on the line who are in violent plays all game long. Game on the line and Donald delivered the most at the end of a super bowl that I can recall. Donald gets doubled a high percentage of the game so his stats don't pop as much as they could, and he still had 2 sacks.
- I don't get the claims of the Bengals being robbed by the refs. I was only mildly rooting for the Rams (I didn't really care but felt Donald/Stafford deserved a SB win in their careers) and didn't really care about the outcome. Surprised so many people dismiss the facemask that wasn't called that led to the big Bengals TD. The offensive facemask penalty that was missed was one of the most game changing ref errors I've ever seen in a super bowl. All scoring plays should be reviewed. Later in the game the Rams got some "payback" but there was no one call as egregious as the non-call that led to the big TD for the Bengals.
- I felt really bad for OBJ and it kinda made me bummed to watch as him going down was the only reason the Bengals had a chance. Then that strange non-call TD really had me kinda zoning out on the 2nd half (obviously the Rams got some stuff that made up for it later).
- I thought that the Rams made an error not letting the clock go to the 2 minute warning before running a play (I think it was on 3rd down, maybe 2nd). They had to know this was their one shot to win and they needed to limit the time on the clock for the Bengals, but they basically gave the Bengals a free stoppage in time. Had Burrows made a game winning drive with the clock low on time, this mistake would be scrutinized.
Fun game but not up to the excitement the rest of the playoffs had... of course that was a really high bar to meet.

football fills that middleground between the very quantifiable game of baseball, where you might as well play it on a spreadsheet, and basketball which is so dynamic, qualitative and unpredictable and the stats are merely descriptive -- football is neither, and not that much fun to watch. just my opinion. any sport is fun when it 'comes down to the wire' but that was not the case tonight. feel like i could've spent the past 4 hours in a more productive way. i keep trying to like football, but i really don't see the appeal.
Football is the ultimate chess match. The NBA is mostly about the talent of the individual players, where in football your scheme is king.
That was a great game, full of adjustments and counters....its a shame that you couldn't enjoy it.
I just watched Magnus Carlsen play Ian Nepomniachtchi in the world chess championship over the course of two weeks. It was a draw for a while then Nepo took a lead, then the obviously better player, magnus, won in a blowout. Football is nothing like a chess match because one game tells you absolutely nothing. Football is immediate gratification, chess is a grind…like a seven game series. LA is probably the better team and they won tonight, but who knows what that would’ve looked like over a proper series. That’s the problem with the nfl, it’s cheap thrills

Rams also got away with atleast 3 delay of game penalties against the Niners in the NFC Title game.

Kind of hope future half time shows stick to this mold, multiple artists of a similar genre. Rather than one headliner
I was talking about this with a friend. I think it depends on the lineup. It worked really well with Dre because his legacy is as a collaborator. Everyone that performed had a direct collaboration connection with Dre. I'm not sure it works so well with a guy like Prince where... even though he helped a LOT of artists when you get somebody like that there the focus needs to be "OMG WE GOT PRINCE! LOOK AT HIM, JUST LOOK AT HIM!!!" because he was so singularly amazing as a musician and performer. Both were epic shows and both really captured the essence of what made them great.
But I liked the medley here. It was totally appropriate for a Dre centered show and pulled off with excellence.

49ers didn’t finish off chiefs because they have Jimmy gag
