we talk about LBJ & anything associated with him

And also he's just plain wrong. LeBron is the main topic of this thread even though we talk about other things related to him.

Not even sure how he could make such a statement when he very obviously didn't read all 70 pages of this thread, let alone the 100s of pages in the previous parts(Note that we've lost count of which part this one even is).

The Lakers main problem, and one that unfortunately for them may not be fixable, is that in order for them to win a title again, 2020 AD is a requirement. A 37 year old LeBron cannot be their best player in that situation, he no longer has the motor even though he is still a top 10 player.

If this team did not have Westbrook or his salary, and had a different cast of role players, it would be a much better team undoubtedly. But NOT a title team. Even with a healthy LeBron... with the current version of AD and solid role players, that would make them contenders in the west, but they would fall to teams like Milwaukee, healthy Brooklyn, Phoenix, etc. The point of this LA team from the beginning of its formation was that AD and LeBron as a duo would just overmatch the rest of the teams in the league, as long as they had a decent supporting cast (which they had in 2020).

But now we have a slower AD, a LeBron that is 2 years older, AND a worse supporting cast. There are compounded issues here, all of which would require fixing to really make a shot at repeating.

And its not going to happen.

Bron should’ve went to the Clippers. Their fans would actually appreciate him, and their front office isn’t full of imbeciles. Words can’t even explain how incompetent the Lakers are.

For those who payed attention, this tweet is not needed to know this to be true.

Before free agency (last summer) Magic went on a press run talking about how the Lakers needed a dynamic playmaker who would move LeBron off the ball. He slammed Schroder as not being a Laker, and he said that Kuzma’s time was up.

The Lakers went on to do all three of those things (in short order).

Dynamic playmaker = Westbrook
Kuzma’s time up = yup
Dennis the non Laker = thrown into the snow.

Check, check, check. Magic in control.
Don't believe the hype...

Facts. We would have loved LeBron. It never made any sense for him to go play for the fanbase full of many of his biggest and most obsessed haters anyway. Even with that bubble ring, LeBron in a Lakers uniform has never felt right to me and it never will. Elevating the Clippers like he did with the Cavs and (to a lesser extent) the Heat would have been way more suited to his brand.

Could’ve had the opportunity to lead 2 franchises to their first title as another feather in his cap for GOAT, Laker fans never liked LeBron and never will. Just go on the GB and you’ll em dogging him constantly. If LeBron won even one for the Clips Ballmer puts up a statue for him.

@JordansBulls

I don't really mind where he plays but yeah Clippers would have been the easier path for him. Magic just sold him on the dream.

I mean the Lakers were a far worse team than the Clippers at the time of him going to LA and had been for many years. I can imagine he thought that he could bring this franchise back on track. Problem is that as soon as he did that it wasn't received as "thank you" but rather "yeah we were great all along"

Yeah, it's almost impossible for them to build another tier 1 contender. They could be a team like Utah, tho

That's easily explained, because the NBA back then was real tough and skilled basketball compared to the SOFT flopping league of today. Also everybody had a humungous D and Jordan got punched in the face twice a game.

Frank Vogel appears to be going full high school basketball coach mode after his team’s latest loss.

The Los Angeles Lakers head coach Vogel announced at practice on Monday that every player would have to make 25 free throws before finishing their day’s work, per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

That sounds a lot like a punishment for the Lakers players, especially after free throws hurt them in their last game against the Golden State Warriors, which they lost 117-115. LeBron James received the brunt of the criticism for missing from the line late when the Lakers had a chance to tie the game. But the team as a whole missed 11 free throws, which was especially costly in an eventual two-point loss.
